Comments Thread For: Chukhadzian And Scarff Fight To Face 'Boots' Ennis On May 17

BoxingScene understands that the final eliminator for the IBF welterweight title, between Karen Chukhadzian and Harry Scarff, will take place in Hamburg, Germany on May 17. In February Wasserman acquired the rights to promote the contest after winning the purse bid and will now work in conjunction with a local German promoter to stage the event. The winner of the fight will become the mandatory challenger for the reigning IBF 147lbs champion, Jaron "Boots" Ennis.

Looks like the IBF are not going to allow Ennis to sit on the title and become part of the inactive circle jerk. Good.

Being that Ennis already outboxed Chukhadzian, don't see there being any point in a rematch. Don't know anything about Scarff, but if he wins, be better to see Ennis against somebody different. Regardless, any activity for Ennis is better than sitting on a lawsuit on top of his usual inactivity for a talent of his kind. Dude is too inactive for a guy as good as he is that's trying to build himself up and land big fights. Needs to solve his promotional issues and get some real management.

Will, someone at boxing scene provide a lowdown on where Boots is with his promoter dispute?

Can't blame him. Even though Chukhadzian lost, he definitely frustrated Ennis with his footwork and had some moments of success when he was able to catch Ennis throwing wild while following him around the ring trying to get at him. It's a matter of him being able to be more active while avoiding Ennis' big shots. Dude's a good fighter, but it takes more than just being a good fighter to compete with(let alone beat) a guy like Ennis. Wouldn't mind seeing a rematch between them if the circumstances line up, but unless Chukhadzhian can do anything different, it'll most likely be a repeat of their original meeting.

Nowadays you see the real boxers with balls are coming from the East and Asia. No more Americans or Mexicans, these are cowards, with a lot of excuses, avoiding even the mandatories but following only $$$...That's the "Floyd saga".

The word ducking in boxing implies fear. So when you say “of Boots ducks” you are suggesting Boots is afraid and will duck Karen.
              After beating Karen by UD.

Guerrero asked Floyd for a rematch so did Marquez so did Hatton. Do you think Floyd ducked them?

Team Ennis should be looking at meaningful options at 154. Crawford and Spence look to be heading up. Guys like Tszyu and Ortiz already there. 147 will be low on talent and big fights. It's a shame for him because he hasn't had a chance to prove much yet, but he's not going to be able to anytime soon with fights like this.

Its completely insane a guy who just lost to Boots 12-0x3 14mos ago is gonna fight a guy whos 5-2 vs guys with winning records (one of those guys was a mere 1-0 btw) for an opportunity to fight Boots again.

The IBF is as corrupted & trash as the other belt groups despite me always hearing they are the less smelling of dog sh^t belt group by so many fans.

Tend to agree. I wanted him to do more at 147, but there isn't a whole lot to do at 147 rn. And 154 is where almost every big fight for him is at basically. And I got few doubts guys like Tim & Vergil would gaf about fighting Boots anyone else so the fights are more makeable there.

If he moves there he needs to line up the right opportunity tho. Either get a belt fight or a big name guy in fight #1. Otherwise hes gonna be on the outside looking in again probably & be the guy whos risky with lil upside for opps to fight.
