  • Comments Thread For: UKAD And BBBC Reportedly Win Appeal To Lift Benn's Suspension

UK Anti-Doping and the British Boxing Board of Control have reportedly won an appeal against the verdict to lift Conor Benn's temporary suspension. Both UKAD and the BBBC confirmed in August that they intended on challenging the ruling from the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) that he could resume his career in the UK.

Great news. A blatant cheat who has behaved like the spoilt rich kid brat he is for too long, hope he gets a lengthy ban.

As much as I'm against cheats do feel somewhat sorry for Benn. Clearly had terrible advice from those that should know better. Where's the official BBBoC and UKAD statement?

Sure this has been delaying Eubanks next fight too. Let's see what he announces

Average boxing skills but he had a famous father, the backing of a big promoter, tattoos, jewellery and clomifene. Only reason we hear so much about him.

Thats fine, but why haven't they given him an actual suspension time table yet?

Fair play he used PEDs, but suspend this mfer x yrs already instead of all this limbo bs. The whole reason he was able to fight in the US is cuz they weren't doing basic PED punishment sh^t in the UK to prevent him from fighting elsewhere.

His own behaviour after being caught hasn't helped him

Firstly they were going to fight under a foreign license 2 days out from the fight, hid the failed test for a while...then after that got caught they tried to pin all the blame on UKAD and BBBoC, then Benn was all over twitter blaming them and saying he'll never fight for them.

if that's not enough, for a long time he was refusing to go to a hearing with them to make his case. Instead opted to get a doctor to blame it on eggs and get the WBC to say he's no longer banned from their ranking. Well that was to make the public who don't know the game think he was cleared, but as we know, the WBC don't license fighters. Those documents should be going to the BBBoC but he was refusing to have his hearing with them for a long time. Then in the end he just started fighting abroad.

his lack of compliance, trying to pull the wool over the publics eyes and shouting his mouth off blaming BBBoC and UKAD has dug him a deeper hole.

Had he just played ball and had his hearing etc etc. It probably would've turned out better.

                What a turn of events.

BBBoC/UKAD must have had some strong evidence in their favour to overturn a decision they lost originally.

Well, Benn’s in trouble now. They could give him a 4 year ban here.

Well not entirely true, he did have a hearing with them and he won that hearing. That is the same hearing that’s now been overturned on appeal.

But you aren’t wrong that he did himself no favours prior to that.

Nah the reason he was fighting in the USA is because they refused to license him despite losing the hearing because they’d appealed it.

I guess it turns out they were right because they won the appeal and now thus the decision they lost has been overturned.

Conor would have been better off just accepting responsibility but claiming ignorance and taking a ban, now he may have to face the 4 years. It’s in UKAD/BBBoC’s hands with that.
