"Muh nothing to the table"

"Muh nothing to the table" is just a variation of a "muh A side", "muh split". In recent months we've heard BoMac (on behalf of Terence Crawford), Bill Haney (on behalf of his son Devin) and Canelo use this phrase. The common theme is that it's a justification for avoiding a dangerous rival.

Broadcasters need to start inserting clauses into contracts with words to the effect, "best endeavours must be made to face your closest rivals, public statements made to the contrary risk invalidating your contract".

It's why I'm blown away that Inoue has so many haters in North America. Guy does nothing but quietly fight everyone in front of him, and dominate them.

Inoue brings everything to the table in Japan, that's why they go there for their career high payday. He could sell out those arenas fighting anybody but he still brings the best opponents over anyway.

And he's active too! He's fighting Nery in 5 weeks, which will be his third top 5 opponent since Bud's last fight. What is there not to like?

Yep. He's active because he doesn't duck fights, just lines up the best night available. Fighters moan about inactivity but its usually their own fault.

Inoue fights so often that you wouldn't even mind if he took a soft touch every few fights but he still doesn't, he just looks to clean out divisions.

best fighter in boxing in my opinion, not just his ability but willingness to test himself as often as possible.

Biggest problem in this sport is inactivity. Worse, it's no longer a big deal.
Even fans have grown accustomed to it. Fighting once a year is no different from avoiding fights/risks.
Insulting part is most of these fighters will even get their HOF plaque when their inactive careers are over.

Muh nothing to the table excuse is the biggest reason AJ nuthuggers give for why he's ducked a Parker rematch for 6 years and a Hrgovic fight in the last 2.

What the last 2 fighters, a sparring partner and clueless MMA guy brought to Joshua's table was a white towel and a bottle of weaksauce.

Parker in a rematch wirh AJ would bring punches smoked in bunches, soaked in Coconut cream and wrapped in Taro leaves.

But we all know Joshua don't like getting punches in bunches and dont want the smoke or the Coconut.

Princess AJ has become accustoned to fine dining on camel balls and desert turkey slathered in Fast Eddie's special Daddys cream.

In a free market like boxing, & unlike most other sports, you can do what you want is the biggest issue with the business of boxing being put ahead of the sport of boxing.

Til boxing becomes more of a dictatorship, like most other sports, where boxing is put above any boxer not much is changing.

The platforms could do this tomorrow but they care about ratings & advertising money. The belt groups could do this tomorrow at the world class level, but who wouldn't want 3% of the ppv stars purse over some guy from Uruguay who no one knows yet. Promoters could do this tomorrow but they care about getting & keeping platform deals so they need to sell tickets & have name guys ppl wanna see.

So all the influence is putting money above the sport so nothing is changing til someone or some ent^ty decides to put the sport above the immediate money. I say immediate cuz I think the long term money would be bigger if boxing was under one umbrella but everyone is too short sighted to envision that.

Amen to that. That's why he's my top P4P. People can try to nitpick, and talk about how much more important lineal titles are, but when you clean out a division of all credible opposition, then move up and do it again, I can't think of anything that's more definitive than that. TBF, he does have to beat Nery, as well as hopefully Goodman and MJ. Goodman I think is going to be another one of those guys who looks better on the resume after. Inoue has flattened a few guys who went on to win world titles and look quite good after losing to him. He's also retired some great fighters.
