My Take on Juanma-Mtagwa

First I will say Congratulations to Mtagwa for giving the fight of his life, the dude have a beard and a half!!!

Now, what I get from this fight is that Lopez thought of Mtagwa as just another easy W. He was out of shape and out of form. He didnt train at all for this fight and he look like ass.

Lopez didnt have any type of game plan and he never used his jab. He look like a southpaw version of Ricardo Mayorga. He just went wild swinging like mad man. He wanted to impress so much in his first fight at MSG that he forgot he was fighting somebody.

Now this is a good thing, he got his wake up call and early. This will serve him to understand that any given night you can lose, and much more if you just plain dont train well and just overlook your opponent.

He needs to change his trainers too. Mo Fo's didnt knew **** to tell him mid fight or anything, all them where just screaming different things at the same time and neither made sense. They didnt had a game plan, nor his corner knew what to do or what to say. The cutman was very good by the way. Juanma won this fight on pure heart, nothing more.

I all and all, Juanma is 100+ times better than what he showed tonight, this is a learning experience that will show him to train and prepare and to dont overlook your opponents.


Oh, and out of the top 3 biggest prospects in boxing his the only one still standing.

Linarez got KTFO by a unknown and Ortiz quit when the going got a bit tough.

I see this fight for Juama like Torres was for Cotto a learning experience that will only get him better.

I didn't read your whole post, but to sum up my take on tonight's fight; Juanma didn't take this fight as serious as he should have. He also payed for fighting sloppy in the later rounds but I was impressed by his ring intelligence/savy to avoid getting KO'd.

One thing I will say is that he clearly won the fight and anyone saying other wise is just a hater wanting another young successful fighter to fail.
