Hm, ok, that all makes decent sense but I still think Tszyu is the lower lying fruit.
If the Crawford fight happens Tszyu will have two belts at 154. Ennis has a belt at 147 that Crawford already won and then vacated. Crawford can become a 4 division unified titlist by beating Tszyu. It's a new accomplishment for his resume. Beating Ennis just gets him back something he already threw away. It's a step backwards.
If the Crawford fight happens Tszyu will have won fights against Fundora, Mendoza, Gausha, Harrison, and Horn. The only notable name that Ennis has beaten was former 140 pound world titlist Sergey Lipinets.
There's really no comparison. The Tszyu fight has much more going for it. Belts Crawford has never won, a new weight division, a better resume.Comment

The Tszyu - Fundora fight has the WBO and WBC belts on the line, so the winner will be the unified champ.
I think he should still try to get Mell, so he can be lineal champ at 154 too though.Comment

I would agree but doesn’t fit the timeline here with Bud wanting to retire and allComment

All of the vacant 154lb titles are being contested for: Culcay/Murtazaliev for the IBF, and Tszyu/Fundora for the WBC/WBO.Given how Spence is somehow still in the top 10 P4P and with Jermell officially beltless and the pace some of these guys fight these days, I won't be surprised to see Spence somehow end up fighting for one of the two vacant belts at 154 next if Crawford is going the Tszyu path.Last edited by kiaba360; 03-20-2024, 01:31 PM.Comment
