Most would probably fold after eating a jab or two, let along a big power shot from a hard puncher. Most "boxing fans" probably don't even know that the objective is to hit and don't get hit. There's a reason for "protect yourself at all times". Stevenson might not be the most entertaining, but he plays the name of the game to a T. If they wanna see fights, go hang out a bar with the local drunks. This is BOXING, not FIGHTING.
My old man used to whip my arse and I have gotten in to my share of fights, especially in my previous occupation. With that being said, there is a difference between the "sweet science" and boring. Ray Leonard boxed but was exciting. Are you one of those dudes who likes boring movies because the directing and character development was solid? It's all about excitement. That's why I hate soccer! Dudes running around all day with very little scoring. Excitement sells boring doesn't!

Thasnore Stevenson needs to step up the punch output and stop running. The kid has skills but he is the Melatonin of boxing!

if u are the best fighter in boxing then u should have easily whipped haney to take his titles & taken the glory instead of throwing a hissy fit and retiring until bud told u to man up and stop being a........ (whatever)

And don’t say, “ It depends on who the opponent is,” either. If Shakur is the wonderful brilliant boxing artiste, the living embodiment of what REAL boxing is and everything else you say we boxing peasants are too uncouth to appreciate, you should be willing to pay top PPV dollar to watch him regardless of the opponent, right?
Doesn't matter if I'm willing to pay or not. I'm not the one complaining. His fights may not always bring the entertainment value neededto satisfy the "fans" whining about wanting to see a war every time they tune into fights, but it doesn't change the fact that he is a boxing wizard(primarily a defensive master) who has been dominant in pretty much all his fights. I appreciate his ability in the ring. Entertertaining or not, young dude is a boxer of the highest level. If you don't like watching him fight, change the channel. Nobody is putting a gun to anybody's head and forcing them to watch. Just keep it moving.

As a boxer I would totally get being the Dre Ward type who never shows your cards or says too much. He was never gonna be Mr popular, but there was a ton of stress & bs he never had to deal with that those guys who are trying to be everything to everybody deal with daily.
Another guy who was knocked for being "boring" and/or "dirty". Doesn't change the fact that guys barely landed a clean, hard shot on and was dominant in most of his fights against top competition. He was a pure boxer. Entertainment value has nothing to do with a boxers ability in the ring and both these guys' abilities in the ring cannot be denied.

If you have enough of those boring performances and the fans start thinking twice about investing their time/money/energy, the promoters/networks will notice and react accordingly. Shakur cannot rely on preferable matchmaking to help him look good; he's gonna have to try and entertain even with problematic opposition in front of him. As flawed as Teofimo is against out-boxers, he's still given some leeway while a guy like Martin/Ortiz is faulted for fighting too negatively.
I agree to an extent. But these characters calling him a horrible fighter don't what they're watching. A fighter's ability in the ring has nothing to do with entertainment value. Entertainment value matters when it comes to appealing to the masses. Just bc they're entertaining doesn't mean they're great. Most of the entertaining dudes in the sport have all kinds of flaws that makes them fun to watch. This kid barely has any flaws in his game which is why his fights lack entertainment bc he makes very few mistakes. He is as textbook as a fighter can be. It just is what it is.

Hey all this talk about live to fight another day how is that working out for him now? He is trying to prove himself with words about how he is going to prove himself as a fighter to watch.........This dislike for So sure is kinda a simple thing people like fights that have some excitement to them, taking chances giving it there all in the ring.......no disrespect but that last fight ****** and for good reasons..... Just keeping it real............
That fact that your dismissing a fighter with being boring as having no skills or heart is one the most asanine, casual comment ever said here. Entertainment value has nothing to do with the skill level of fighters. It's all about style and appealing to the masses. Just stepping into the ring means you have heart bc most guys would rather do what most of you cats here doing and that's nothing but just criticize with feelings. All these guys at top have skills. What you want is to see is the fighting drunk guys do at bars on Saturday nights. Go learn some history on boxing bc you clearly don't know the objective or anything else about it.
