Manzon throws 100 contracts at canelo pre fight but canelo manages to slip every one of them with his great defence

Look at the rep building on Matias, he hasn't fought anybody and getting into that position where he must prove himself against the best guys inside the next 3 fights, he has only had 20 or so fights, how could he stall it for another 50 fights today before fighting the very best, the times are different, a fast hard puncher like Morrel that's over 6ft could possibly take Monzon out in under 5 rounds, most of the old fighters were grinders where today its very much about sustaining intensity and explosive power, The game is different, the athlete is different.
I agreed they would fight often and against anyone, cans, bums, élites, anyone. They didn't pick and choose. I just responded to your post where you pointed out that Griffith has 80 fights when he fought Monzon, yeah and Monzon had 85, you were trying to say that Emile was wore out, hiw about Monzon? How many cans canelo has fought? And how many good fighters he has beaten, without controversy?

Again. Canelo would have been a fat punching bag in old times. 168 didn't exist. No way Canelo would make 160 on the same day , which means he would have to fight killers like Bob Foster at 175. Good luck doing that.

Honestly considering th3 current middleweight is straight up one of the worst modern divisions right now, it is difficult to imagine Janibek, Adames and Charlo competing against ATGs like Hearns, Monzon and Hagler.

I think Canelo could had been a middleweight for most of part his career, took too much advantage of being the A-side applying stipulations against his competition.

Rehydrated up to 172 against Trout and 174 against Lara. Obviously instead of cutting down to 155 instead of 160 it's going to take its toll on him.

At 175 without any definitive advantages, he is indeed going to get pummeled by the top contenders.

Yes, but in old times weight in was on the same day as the fight. No way Canelo would make 160 on the fight day, no way.

Agree to disagree, I think Canelo could had been a middleweight until his late twenties if he did things right and if he debuted at 160 since the beginning.

He shouldn't able to ballon up 15 pounds however.

                  - - Just gonna point out the obvious---Canelo is basically a LH in the ring with strong offensive and defensive balance. Monzon in same day weighin's never fought any LHs, so Canelo would be the fav.

                  OP howling at the moon.

canelo would not be fighting Monzon, he will be fighting Foster, Spinks and Saad Muhamed.
