I doubt Ford does that. Again credit for him going for it in the 12th, but it was obvious Kholmatov was really having leg issues and Ford likely that Ford realized he had the upper hand.

    Like to see a rematch.
Ford said he was going to 130. It's called an excuse, don't take a fight if you will make excuses after getting beat. Matov can get a rematch at 130, but make sure he doesn't have health issues and make excuse again. I prefer Ford vs Foster at 130.

You can perform quite a lot on a bad ACL tear. I know plenty of guys who have deployed and done full combat tours with torn ACLs. It's not the sort of injury that necessarily prevents you from moving the way you want to.
So if it's not that bad, do we give Ford credit or allow Kholmatov the option to drop in that excuse in ANY fight he would have eventually lost?

I think the stoppage was premature myself, but credit to Ford for pressing to win the fight up till the last minute. I had the fight wider than the judges (106-103 2x, 105-104) going into the last round, so I really do think Ford got a bit of luck. Comparisons to Chavez-Taylor I are fair. If they do wind up rematching at some point and both are healthy, I have no reason not to believe that Khomatov outboxes him again. Ford does not look like a strong feahterweight champion to me.

I give Ford credit for doing what he needed to do. There's always something, and very rare to make it to the ring 100%. I'll give Ford more credit if he offers a rematch and wins more conclusively. Just saying that a torn ACL doesn't necessarily prevent you from performing. Could lead to worse issues, but ultimately you gotta be the better man in the ring on the night whatever it takes, and an ACL tear is minor in comparison to some things. I'd rather have that than a shoulder issue, or a broken orbital for instance. Another minor but obnoxious one is having a rib out. That's excruciating enough to send some people to the hospital, and makes it hard to breathe and focus so you end up missing shots. Lots of things that can go wrong on the day. Hope he heals up well and can come back and get back in the title hunt.

I can agree with that. I thought he was too patient throughout the fight, but I can't deny, his combinations at times were wicked and when they landed, they looked strong. I feel he should have more KO than his resume shows. Perhaps his opponents were that good or at least had a good chin?

Ford basically said he's already moving up in weight in the post fight interview, so we won't see him defend it, but I agree that if he did defend it, he could lose it immediately upon his next fight. I'm just living in the moment of the excitement for what happened.
