The promoter plays a role in this too. It isn't their job to baby the fighters, but I think it's important to demonstrate that you prioritize them during their highs and lows. It's a delicate balance of knowing when to be firm and when to show empathy. Recent example: Hearn traveling to upstate NY to be in Ford's corner when he could've been traveling to Riyadh. Maintaining a fighter's morale can't just be the manager's responsibility. It's a concerted effort by a fighter's whole team to make sure he's physically/mentally sharp. That's why I don't understand why GBP and Ryan Garcia don't come to an agreement to separate.
There's a conflict of interest happening in PBC, where Benavidez is clearly the top priority because he's most likely to get Canelo and is easier to market. Benavidez will get the first choice of opponents, and Morrell will always be a step behind. Matias was in a similar situation: he wasn't able to get Romero or Gary Antuanne....but supposedly was offered as a sacrificial lamb to Ennis lol
