And it's not like he's got a fan unfriendly style like some, so that's gotta be at least in part crap promotion. And Crawford somehow wasn't able to sell either. The biggest sellers are the Ryan Garcia and Jake Paul types, which is crazy. Right now, boxing is in the same position that Blockbuster was. It's failed to keep up with the times, and we're going to see some major changes moving forward. It's one of the oldest sports, so I don't see it changing, but big changes are coming, and already here. Amazon is going to lose money with crap PPV starts like the Thurman card, and PBC will be done.
I disagree only because I believe the demand for the fight trumps what Benavidez has previously done on ppv. There was the same logic about ggg when canelo was avoiding him as his ppv numbers were weak but once the fight happened, it sold well. There is big demand for this fight and it’s bigger than canelo ha charlo or canelo vs plant which hit the 700-800k range. I think canelo vs beavidez likely hits a mil.

Nah, he definitely does. Cameo vs Plant done around 800k. There’s certainly more demand for the Benavidez fight. I don’t remember a more demanded fight for Canelo since Golovkin I

There is an very audible demand for the Canelo and Benavidez fight and it has been building up quite a bit since the Plant fight.

I've been to two of Canelos fights and the last few of Benavidez's fight along woth some of events in between where you chat it up with the others in attendance. The fan bases are not the same so to speak. Benavidez definitely has a lot of the Mexican American and Chicano fan base on his side and Canelo has some of that but also more traditional Mexican fans.

At the Andrade fight there were quite a bit of the more traditional Mexicans that have begun to kind of turn on Canelo because they believe he is avoiding.

It is for sure a big fight in the Mexican and Mexican American community.

Also feel that I have to add this detail in as it is very important on why I feel it will be a big fighting it ever happens. Pretty much everyone at these fights says confidently that Canelo is never going to fight Benavidez.

Oscar is delusional princess ry isn’t a star anymore. He was becoming one then he quit on his knees when everyone knew he could continue. This is a cash out fight basically. Ryan knows he gonna lose he’s just taking the fight to get paid and say he lost to a top guy. He won’t go near teo cause Teo will knock him out lol Matias too

“It’s real that Ryan’s going through something. It’s real that Devin Haney believes – and is confident – that he’s the best in that division and deserves respect based on his accomplishments."

Those statements make you wonder who B-Hop is really supporting.

Naturally at this point, Haney vs Garcia looks to surpass Canelo vs ?. Especially since Alvarez's next fight is about 8 weeks out with no opponent signed yet.

Exactly. No one - except Canelo’s fanboys - are going to pay PPV prices just to see Canelo. That’s why the PPV buys for his fights with Bivol, Ryder and Charlo all tanked. And the same will happen if he fights Berlanga, especially just two weeks after Haney-Garcia and two weeks before Fury-Usyk.

We'll just have to agree to disagree because we're never going to see that fight anyways.

Agree with everything you touched on. I just found out that Canelo has only fought two fighters younger than him in 64 fights. I don't believe he's going anywhere near Benavidez.
