That's the issue. Nela knows that Benavidez may completely embarrass him in front of the world so why make the fight

The only fight that never got done was Bowe/Lewis and it was Bowe's fault for throwing the title in the garbage and not facing Lewis, then Lennox returned the favor when he was on top.
Morales went and fought Pac and Barrera 3 times a piece. Would had been nice to see him face Marquez at some point.
There was never a demand for Norris/JCC, they fought on the same card numerous times but that was it.

Canelo used to say Benavidez hasn't done enough, he hasn't fought anybody, etc. But Benavidez continues to beat everybody up in devaststing faahion, Canelo still won't face him. Which let's u know that every reason Canelo gave for not fighting him b4, were just excuses. The bottom line is, he never intends to fight Benavidez no matter what the excuses has to be for the moment. He just doesn't wanna face him..i don't care what Canelo has done his entire career, or who he has faced-- old Cotto, old Shane, old Kovalev, slow and high Chavez jr, non -threat Mayweather, slow James Kirkland, glass jaw small Amir Khan slowed down GGG, heavy bag Angulo, British bums Avni Yildirim and Rocky Fielding, light punching dancers BJ Saunders and Plant, jr middleweight blown up Charlo, When it comes to Benavidez, he doesn't any disadvantage that he can exploit, like he did in all these previous opponents. Canelo will NOT fight unless he has some definite advantage. Benavidez isn't a dancer or a light puncher, he's not slow, old, or a blown up fighter from a smaller division. He's everything that Canelo doesn't wanna face.Canelo will never ever fight this man. And yes it will always be a major part of his legacy... fans don't forgive guys who duck other guys. Rid**** ducked Lennox, and its always a part of the conversation about Rid**** today. Same goes for Sugar Ray Leonard who ducked Aaron Pryor, (Mayweather who ducked young Shane, Paul Spadafora, Kostya Tszyu, Margarito, Paul Williams, delayed Pacquiao fight for at least 6 years, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Kell Brook) Jake Lamotta, Cerdan, Zale, Billy Conn, Ray Robinson, and Henry Armstrong all ducked Charley Burley. And the list goes on. Duckimg will definitely be Canelo's legacy. Ducking and carefully selecting his fights based on some perceived disadvantage he saw in his opponents. Fu...k Puto Canelo

When talking about Alvarez it's the tale of two sides of his career. The first half or so he took on ANY challenge and challenger. But since the Bivol fight he now runs from a challenge. I was never a huge fan of Canelo, nor am I a hater. However the respect I did have for him is gone. Because he stopped daring to be great.

I just don't get it's the easiest fight to make in boxing.

It ticks all the boxes would do 1.5m PPV
              no1 vs no2 in the 168 division
heavily anticipated by media and past fighters.

              Boggles the mind.

Yes it will and here’s why… RECENCY is more important than ever in sports. You are only truly remembered for the most recent thing you did and to be honest the most recent things Canelo has done have not been career defining. People love to talk about how many world champions he beat, cool, how many of them were in their prime? How many went on to reclaim belts, how many of them faded into obscurity or retirement shortly after due to age? Canelo has 60 plus fights, keep that in mind. How many truly are classics? But you can’t argue with fanaticism because their minds are made up walking into the conversation and don’t care for any other opinions. These things do not age well.

My guess is Canelo knows this is a highly demanded fight. So he probably wants $100M guaranteed plus either 80/20 or 70/30 split on PPV buys. Let's see how badly the promoters and Benavidez really want the fight.

I can just imagine reading NSB in December, 1992 and seeing the headline - "Rock Newman: Bowe's Legacy Won't Be Defined By Not Fighting Lewis"

He comes out with some baloney. It matters and will affect his legacy as questions will always asked.
