I really like this fight. David has a solid case for taking this on the fact that Gvozdyk still hasn't quite recovered his soul that was taken from him against Beterbiev. It's really going to come down to if David can keep his speed and volume at a higher weight. If Gvozdyk shrugs off the usual Benavidez barrage, the latter is in serious trouble. Excellent fight.

But when will that be? Smith was Beterbievs mandatory so that won't be called for 18 months. Before that will be the undisputed rematch and the WBA mandatory.

At some point the SMW mandatories will be called. He's not going to get a shot at the LHW belts for 18 months at least and does anyone really think he has any chance against Beterbiev

At some point? It could be years and even then Canelo will just drop the belt. Only a clueless idiot would think Benavidez stands no chance vs Beterbiev. The guy went life and death with Anthony Yarde lol.

Going for the Bivol vs Beterbiev winner is ridiculous? Huh? That fight presents more of a legacy than drunk Charlo, 44-0 prospect Munguia or 9 fight David Morrell. Let’s think rationally. Morrell was the only interesting fight outside of Ducknelo.

Not really. He’s 37 years old. Took a beating against Beterbiev and some damage against 41 year old Stevenson. 12 rounds of a high intensity war against an explosive 26 year old, younger, stronger and bigger? Doesn’t have a chance, not even a punchers one.

If true - the fact that Canelo DECLINED $55 million to fight - well how would you take that? Personally I'd take it that I'm never getting the fight? So that said there's a need to reset an re-focus career trajectory- LHW for a good payday an intermediate belt which should mean a mandatory and a winnable fight - that sounds like a plan.

But .... the big story here is CANELO TURNED DOWN $55MILLION to fight Bena?
Yeah that’s a crazy duck. When Canelo’s retired he’s really going to regret that one.. critics and pundits will never shut up about that duck.

I remember when Benavidez called Canelo a b*tch, I guess we know exactly what he is now. Good for Benavidez, let Canelo continue his cherry-picking!

Beterbiev is 40 years old in 9 months. I’d say he has a pretty good chance. Father-time is unbeaten. Even caught up to Hopkins. Unless Beterbiev does a ‘Khabib’ and retires within 2-3 fights he’ll get beaten eventually.
