My professional life, and much of my cultural life by default, is dominated by cynical materialism. I don't drink, smoke, take drugs or watch any other sports. Boxing is a form of escapism for me, one I have enjoyed since a teenager. I love the history and have always had a particular interest in the titles - as some of my posts/threads have shown. I want to see the best fight the best and have little interest in "A side/split" arguments, which I generally interpret as an excuse to not fight, whoever's making it.

You are dealing with someone who found Floyd Mayweather intensely boring during his career. His fights: boring. His rationalistations for opponent selection: boring. His garish exhibitions of wealth: boring. When someone like this dominates the sport you otherwise enjoy it's difficult not to resent that person. I am glad he's retired, don't miss him and thankfully only have to think about him when I have these somewhat embarrassing exchanges on the internet with strangers who appear to revere him,
