Based off of Chavez's comments he knows that David Benavidez is a tough fight for Canelo. He also knows that Canelo has not fought David as of yet and that in time he hopes the fight happens. Because of the respect Canelo has shown him, he won't speak ill of Canelo. He even admits that Benavidez because of his height would be tough for Canelo. Hopefully he will tell Canelo to go to Benavidez and take his beating like a man. Fight hard, train hard and go in there with your best and take the beating that David has waiting for you. Get some balls and fight Benavidez, Canelo. "Daddy will be proud of you Canelo", says Chavez.

Hopefully, Canelo listens.

Canelo IS running from Benavidez, and has been for years and years. Its starting to rival how Amir Khan ran from Kell Brook for over a decade. And in some ways, it's worse, because Canelo is in a position to fight anyone he wants, and he just cherry picks all over the place. The public has been wanting to see this fight for years now, and Canelo is well aware of this. But in David he sees a.problem, he sees a fighting heart. Someone who doesn't dance around and flick jabs all night, someone who u hit and he'll throw 10 punches in return, very accurate, can throw every punch in the book, hits hard, is determined to win not survive, very good defense and reflexes, he sees speed and counterpunching, skill, he also sees someone who really wants to fight him who he knows will be in 25 round shape on fight night. And the biggest thing he sees is that David has Mexican heritage too. So he understands this fight has implications for history of who was the baddest ass Mexican of this era. So losing to David kinda take a lot away from Canelo's legacy. If he loses, history will say thats why he ran for so many years. He was scared. He cherry picked for years. Who TF was Avni Yildirim, and all tthese other weirdos he fought? I think u can be respectful of Canelo while still telling the truth. He's running. He has no wish to face David now, or in the past. I agree with a lot of what you said, but Canelo fought Avni Yildirim because he was a mandatory and Canelo wouldn't have been able to collect and hoard all the belts at 168 without fighting him.

And yet, he has benavidez waiting for two years and Morell jr for three. Go figure, I wonder if he would have jumped at the opportunity to collect the belts if instead of yildrim was benavidez, the answer is no, he only announced the unifying quest after benavidez lost the strap, once he got back on the saddle and became #1 mandatory canelo has kept his mouth shut and only looking for easy fights with all the advantages in his side.

Exactly. At some point they realized that they had to give up those attributes in order to defend him and apparently they had no problem doing so.

That fight against Yildirim was the WBC enforcing it's mandatory (the fight was in Feb of 2021) after Yildirim had been out of the ring for 2 years. So, it's now been over 3 years since the WBC has enforced it's mandatory even though Benavidez has been the "interim" champ for almost 2 years. Mauricio Sulaiman is so far up Canelo's butt he's left Lemmiwinks in the dust.
