I saw the Japanese wording but I don't think he was exactly thinking publicity stunt or trash talking as the main point but just answering a question that was directly asked.
Q-"Prior to Fulton, one of the often mentioned topic in USA was that this was your first fight against an African American fighter. Did you feel anything different during the fight?"
A-"I don't know if Fulton being black made any difference, but the fight itself did feel a bit different (compared to other opponents). His boxing style was certainly different, but I believe the mental mindset I kept was more important during that match. During the fight, I was observing Fulton's body language which seems to stand out. Given that this was my only fight with a black fighter I don't think that has anything to do with race, but during the specific fight I certainly felt that way."
Q-"Did you feel that his expressions and body language showed what Fulton was thinking?"
A-"I think it showed. During the first round I usually try to read what my opponent is thinking right now and what they think about me, but Fulton's expression showed vividly. Not sure if being American matters, but Fulton definitely didn't like being punched in the face (when I hit him). Different boxing styles from Japanese boxers who tend to fight via Yamato-damashii (duking it out with each other to see who can outlast eachother). Of course I think there are American fighters who like doing a slugfest as well, but maybe not as much"
Sounds like the interviewer was trying to see what he feels toward black fighters through Fulton (possibly trying to go toward his opinion on Crawford?), but Inoue doesn't exactly consider Fulton the norm nor outlier example of a generic black fighter in any way and just answered what he felt about the Fulton fight. And frankly, it doesn't require being a mind reader to get an impression from Fulton during that match that he didn't want to engage much with Inoue...
By the way considering how guys like Kenshiro fights and the recent tragedy with the Tsutsumi-Anaguchi fight, there is a tendency in the Japanese culture that makes them go toward a somewhat self destructive way at extreme peak times. Yamato-damashii isn't a 100% positive term, as along with stuff like courage and commitment, it also holds a meaning such as the self sacrifice of taking on challenges from the front even if it leads to doom over trying to survive via fleeing
Fulton is not even the most skilled american and is average at best. Fulton's style is not representative of all american fighters, and anyone with half a brain would know that. Japan only has a handful good fighters. There are many other japanese fighters who suck, quit, get brutally KO'ed and didn't make it in boxing unlike inoue, but no one was saying japan sucks at boxing before inoue was even a thing, yeah?
must be your ESL classes, but where does Inoue mention black fighters in the tweet?
Time to consider Rosetta Stone to brush up on english, chico?
"American fighters" you fvkcing dumbass. He's not talking about Latino fighters whenever somebody says American fighter it's specifically black fighters you dumb fvkc.
Fulton was a good win despite his lack of power. He’s a very good boxer, good mover, could frustrate lesser boxers. Inoue was on another level, I couldn’t believe how easily he beat Fulton. I was expecting a way more competitive fight. In fact, I favored Fulton.
Even though Fulton is being disrespected and played down by Inoue fans (who then complain about Inoue not getting the credit he deserves for the win), he’s a very good boxer and you have to be on your A game to beat him. I think Fulton will bounce back. He just lost to a future hall of famer.
I think he's just frustrated because nobody really knows him outside of Japan.
Nobody really knows his opponents as well because those opponents dont have any following
He is at his prime of his career amd his best win to date is a 40 year old donaire
EDIT:
I think he is in a way similar to a young Morales having only so far old daniel Zaragoza as his best win except inoue doesnt have any barrera, pacquiao, or potentials like hamed or marquez in his horizon.
