What is it about Bivol that makes him soo good despite looking ordinary?

If you used Bivol for the famous eyes test and see him fight anonymously, I would say he neither fails nor passes the eyes test. He's the most boring prize fighter in my opinion.

He's not strong. He's not powerful. He's not particularly fast. Add to that his boxing style which is pretty wooden/ ordinary. No cause for concern there either.

But Bivol obviously does something great by beating up Canelo.. So what is it about him? Does he rely on exceptional timing and that's that?

Bivol is not ordinary. He beat Canelo mostly cause Canelo is past his prime and way too small for 175. He couldn’t hurt Bivol and bivol knew it.

His sense of distance, timing, and rhytm are unmatched. He isn’t exciting but he doesn’t have to be. He just gets the job done and nobody has been able to figure him out.

Hopkins and Winky Wright for instance. Their styles werent pretty nor exciting but it worked for them. I kind of see Bivol in that light as well.

im not trying to hype or defend the guy but i think his last 10 opps were all at top 15 LHW, not sure about the last one

I get it, just that it's not a really strong division, which makes it hard for guys to define themselves; I agree he is very good in his class; I just want to see more before I put him up where a lot of guys have him.
