Is the PBC deal still even exists? I thought it's a deal with Showtime/PBC when nobody expected SHO to exit boxing that early.

Agreed. Canelo seems unbothered by anything said about him nowadays. He has nothing more to prove in the sport and deserves to hand out the golden ticket to whoever he chooses. But as long as Benavidez keeps running over the competition, his name is gonna haunt Canelo everywhere he goes no matter where he's at nor what he's doing. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later.

He needs to prove that he can win the big fight. Every time he has stepped up to face an elite fighter, he has lost or got help from the judges. I'm not counting the cotto's and mosley's of the world. He went on British tour and still hasn't faced a credible opponent.
