Canelo last 5 years as a the “King of Boxing”
signed with DAZN and went feasting on weak champs from across the pond.
signed with PBC and went feasting on smaller part time fighters who are super inactive and desperate for a paycheck.
You can pretty much thank Hearn and Haymon for these memorable yearseco1

Ain't nobody make canelo pick a 154 pounder. A UK journeyman (ryder) or a 40 year old career middleweight (GGG)
If haymon was picking canelo opponents. Benavidez would be happening. But it's not. Why? Because canelo is calling his own shots.joseph5620 likes this.

Saying that he doesn't want to fight Bivol at 168 because people would give him **** and no praise if he beat him at that weight.
I just realized how critical I have become of Canelo after being a fan of him for years.
Since anywhere around/after Saunders/Plant he IMO just crossed the line from being confident to being very arrogant.
I take a pretty simple approach to this. I want a so-called undisputed champion to face the best challengers in his own division, particularly when he's just had a novelty fight against a smaller guy.
Some people seem to be into the fact Canelo made Forbes magazine. If that's his only interest, that's his prerogative but I'm not interested in his remaining career and he shouldn't be allowed to keep calling himself an "undisputed" champion if all he's doing is pursuing the biggest paydays against lesser/smaller competition.
Boxing doesn't exist solely for Canelo's further enrichment.

I don’t think Canelo picks Spence but the point that Bradley is making holds true. Canelo is about avoiding risk as much as possible. He doesn’t care what boxing fans want to see and knows that he has a ****** fan base that will support him regardless. So why take the risk when you have idiots who will pay to watch you take on meaningless opposition? Canelo and his groupies are a main reason why boxing has lost luster and why ppv’s for the so called face of the sport can’t clear a mil anymore. Self preservation is the priority over truly chasing greatness.joseph5620

Haymon not worried about selecting Benavidez.. Haymon is taking care of his day one guys.. Charlos & Spence.. Canelo tried to make the fight with Mungia with the Saudis paying for the fight, and Al shut him down.
