The reason the 90s heavyweights were so good is steroids duh

You ever wonder why all those 90s heavyweights were jacked AF and threw haymakers at each other non stop without ever getting tired?

You watch the heavyweights today and even someone like Usyk doesn't look particularly special with his work rate compared to them.

Guys like AJ who are in insane shape throw half the punches of 90s heavyweights and still gas. Why is this? We're the genetics better in the 90s when all those guys were doing coke and drinking? Come on man.

Nevada didn't even do ANY testing for steroids until the 2000S, FACT LOOK IT UP

I know people are going to say "they are still on them today", and yeah maybe but they clearly aren't taking the piss anywhere near as much as they were in the 90s when they were pumped to the gills with inhuman levels of PED's

Steroids were definitely prevalent, and the testing wasn't as stringent as now, but don't kid yourself that the top guys of today aren't on PEDs. It's just that they have to time their cycle more carefully and top guys like Joshua might even have access to the newest undetectable PEDs.

The 90s were smaller HWs across the board, it takes energy to carry mass, its a lot different training today also, back then endurance and roadwork were mainstay, today they train for more explosive power.

The thing with Peds is they are not silver bullets they don't give you this massive lift over a guy that's just better everywhere, look at Vargas vs Oscar, Im sure most fans think take peds and its an automatic win, and if a fan doesn't understand what he sees he will call Peds like its the catch cry baked from fckd if I know so must be peds or magic.

The hws of the past had good skills, will fight anyone and had heart unlike the ones now, don't forget. They train on their stamina too unlike the ones now like aj training for looks and end up looking like a stiff robot in the ring.

It's an interesting conjecture but far from the whole story. There was a deeper pool of talent in the 90s. Being a fat, inactive slob would not have cut it.

I don't think steroids are the reason for them fighting the way they did. They were more passionate and less caring about how to make the biggest profit at the lowest risk or effort. Also, today, because many heavyweights are taller, most of them rely on different style that is not very attractive.

Those who did 15 rounds some 80-100 years ago and before didn't even know about steroids.

Talking about steroids today, I guess many of us suspect AJ, but why nobody talks about Ngannou - in his fight against Fury, he was practically weighing 123 kg. on 193 cm. and looked jacked as a bull. Yet, people call Fury a steroid cheater, looking like Barbapapa.
