From what I've heard, Briggs still doesn't not speak well of Atlas.

When people lose confidence and self-esteem, sometimes the response is to eat excessively. Kirk Johnson was another of Teddy's fighters - do you see a pattern?

Check some psychology texts, look up eating disorders. Watch the movie Precious, it's all about a person who has no sense of self-worth.

he's not risking his #1 ranking & he's going to fight a couple lowrisk bums he can knockout early to avoid a cut,an injury, etc. Anything can happen but fighting reed makes more sense than taking another risk vs a guy like estrada.he's gaurenteed a shot probably by July so he'll be ready & hopefully not hurt again.

There's no way he'll defeat Wlad anyway, so I suppose it doesn't really matter.

since I don't have a computer I can't send you my Briggs interview from 2005 years after he parted ways with atlas.he spoke great about teddy & that he used to always get on him about training harder.Briggs was too busy making movies, rap CDs(obviously doing good outside boxing)to train hard.teddy gave him the altimatum to either train harder & devote all his time to boxing or he wouldn't be able to train him anymore.his next fight Wilson knocked him out.teddy left.ask anyone from nova scotia who lived in kirk johnsons hometown.he never trained hard after he won a couple of big fights.after ruiz he was a millionaire & blew it all living a party lifestyle.atlas had nothing to do with it.moorer was never in shape after first Holyfield fight.watch espn fight between Briggs & okine.watch the Briggs interview after.Briggs is almost in tears apologizing to teddy for his past behavior & Briggs used the media to try & point the blame for his loss to Wilson,& he also claimed an asthma attack in the hospital after.he got mad at teddy because atlas denied Briggs claim(he said he was with him at the hospital & the attack was an excuse for losing to Wilson)of illness.it was Briggs lack of dedication to training that caused the loss.Briggs was immature then.he got a gift win vs foreman afterwards but everyone knows foreman won easily.Briggs has been a class act since his tearyeyed apology to atlas.

Another thing, shortly after him & teddy made amends,Shannon got married to his longtime girlfriend.he won a world title a couple years later.Briggs, moorer,Johnson were all young men having early success & working for a hardass dictator like atlas was probdbly difficult.they wanted to party & celebrate success & he wanted them in the gym.I'm sure you had a boss you hated at one point but 10 years later you realize he taught you more than anyone.I've had a couple foreman like that so I can relate to these boxers & teddy.you may be a computer guy or something but I've been an Ironworker for 13 years & I learned alot more from the hardass' than anyone else.I hated working for them but I look back & thank them for riding me & yelling because I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them.

Joe Strong, name me one boxer that Teddy Atlas trained who he DIDN'T leave in anger/frustration?

Did he ever have the kind of positive long-term working relationship with his fighters the way Manny Steward has with Wladimir, or Fritz Sdunek has with Vitali? Or Freddy Roach has with Pacquiao?

Has Atlas brought out the best or the worst in the fighters he's trained?

Steward is MUCH better than Atlas, both as a trainer and as a TV boxing analyst.

I hope this warm-up isn't his only fight until the Wladimir fight because Wladimir is fighting Chambers first and it's gonna be a long time until he gets his shot at the title.

Till April? Damn, Chambers and Povetkin should be fighting again. Oh well Chambers well definitley have to take a warm-up before fighting Wlad, maybe someone like Oleg Maskaev. Better yet Povetkin should fight Vitali and relinquish his IBF mandatory status.

and what I find to be ironic, im sure you'll remember is that Povetkin BEAT Eddie to get that IBF mandatory title shot. funny that Chambers gets his crack at Wlad before Povetkin.

don't get why Chambers is next in line. You'd think Povetkin-Klitschko would be the bigger fight internationally.

will Povetkin ever get his shot? he's been waiting close to, if not over a year to cash on on his mandatory title shot.

Povetkin was suppose to fight Wladimir last December but he pulled out with a leg injury. He delayed the fight further by fighting Jason Estrada in April. Povetkin had another chance to fight Wladimir when Haye canceled his fight, but Povetkin opted not to. Povetkin hired Teddy Atlus and Povetkin's team said that he needed another tune-up before fighting Wladimir.

Povetkin had plenty of chances but blew it, that's why Wladimir is fighting Chambers first because Chambers publicly said that he is READY to fight Wladimir. If I were the IBF I would either enforce Povetkin to fight Wladimir next or strip him of his mandatory status.
