I was hoping to see Povetkin in with someone better this fall. And Reed is a small heavyweight, so he will not help Povetkin prepare for a Klitschko.

I think the egocentric, unstable Teddy Atlas will not be a good trainer for Povetkin, after what he did to Lalonde, Moorer, Kirk Johnson, Briggs, and Grant (they all say he had a negative effect on their confidence).

Alexander is already age 30. He's just wasting more months of his prime facing a clubfighter like Reed.

Yeah, Reed seems like a 'step down' in competition from Jason Estrada (Povetkin's last opponent) and will do little to prepare him for Wlad, if they ever do fight. On a side note, this will be Povetkin's first fight in the U.S...

I wonder if Povetkin will take another fight after this?

He's going to have a long wait for Wlad, who is not fighting Chambers until April.

his career isn't going downhill at all. This isn't a good fight for Sasha, but he's keeping busy. I like that. I would prefer he fight someone like Michael Grant if he is going to fight in America. But at least he is staying busy. That's a positive, and right now we need as many of those as possible.

I'm thinking he'll take another 'stay busy' fight in the interim especially if he blows this guy out...

he's only fighting reed to work on a coupler things.about atlas it wasn't him who had a negative effect on moorer & Briggs.they both ate more than they trained & teddy resigned because they were slackers.I have interviews with Briggs owning up to not working hard & blaming teddy for his problems when he himself was the problem not teddy.Briggs & moorer were young men & life in the fastlane was the lifestyle they chose.listen to Briggs now & he will always say teddy was right & he should have worked harder.

Yes, Michael Grant would have been a better choice.

I'll give ya a positive; Damon Reed is probably a better fighter and more motivated than Taurus Sykes (Povetkin's 2nd to last opponent)...
