How does Bivol’s boxing skills and IQ compare to Andre Ward from 2016-2017?

I'd say so however Bivol, like Bertebiev is still a little unproven against top opponents.

Ward was a phenomenal fighter at 168, yes he had an ugly style that didn't make for the most exciting fights, but you can't deny its effectiveness.

His run through the super 6 was excellent but after that you had very weight drained Dawson and the two dodgy Kovalev fights.

I don't think Ward was that suited to 175 where he started to lose his strength advantage because he was very strong at 168.

I also think Ward was somewhat flattered because a lot of his opponents in the super 6 were sort of what I call basic tough guys, like Froch, Kessler, Abraham, these guys were good and really solid world level operators, I mean don't get me wrong Froch and Kessler would absoloutley smoke the guys at 168 today like BJS and Kessler.

But I think Bivol would be the most skilled boxer ward would have ever fought and he has physical advantages as well. If Kovalev can push Ward so close I have to imagine Bivol would make it over the line against him.

Kovalev was supposed to make a man for himself off of Ward just like PBC tried with Wilder and Fury. 1st fight was controversy. Wards right in the 2nd fight erased any controversy. Pure hate if you say not.

his best is 168 so i'd say 50.50 as boxing match with Bivol since he said he can make 168 and he has more volume than Ward. The inside mauling might be the big difference maker but we are about the find out shortly how Bivol deals with an inside mauling after the 6th round, oh boy, are we about to find out.

Who's on Wards resume that would give Bivol major problems?

Kessler and Froch would be a bit too small and a bit too basic for bivol imo.

Weight drained Dawson gets smoked by any half decent fighter and I'm pretty confident bivol could take Kovalev.

Oh I think bivol beats everyone on wards resume. It's just bivo l needs a few wins to be greater though, even if I think bivo l beats ward too.

I think Bivol is a great fighter. That said, Ward only had harder times with big men who were KO artists. A pure boxer like Bivol would bring no threat and would allow Ward to do what ever he wants. Ward could box just as good as Bivol but can adjust with a far bigger tool box. Bivol is more one dimensional.
