They shoulda stripped Errol. Errol was front row and got a good look at Boots when he fought then undefeated former Canadian Olympian Custio Clayton. Errol saw that lightning fast jab from orthodox and southpaw stance. He saw the power, the accuracy, the reflexes, the defense, the versatility, and that finishing punch like a guilloutine coming down to decapitate Clayton. He saw how wobbly and hurt Clayton was. And after that fight Boots said he wants the Big Fish!! Errol was smiling and all that, but I Guarantee u he had bad dreams about that. Either daydreams or nightmares, u pick! Nobody wants to play with Boots, even now that he is a champ. U know its crazy when a champ can't get nobody to fight him. Boots is like Burley in a way-- a slick, greasy boxing master who will also clobber ur ass and put u to sleep. Boots makes u miss AND makes u pay. He makes u pay whether u swing, land, miss, or don't swing at all. He comes to make u pay from the 1st bell to the last. He's on you, bringing tremendous heat. And he does it exceptionally well from both sides, with slick defense still intact, never wavering on that defense while he's punishing his opponents the entire time. And his stamina and workrate is crazy too. And anyone hoping he fades later. Nope. He'a cracking all night long. The hard nosed Villa found that out the hard way. Villa is super strong. He ain't no joke.. Eddie Futch would be very pleased to see a guy like Boots today, but sad that no one wants to fight him. How many ppl in boxing today can be described that way, skill.and ability wise?
If Karen could make him look ordinary almost frustrated and off his game plan , Imagine what Bud would do to him
I think he will be the man but only behind Bud or only after he retiresptek likes this.

I've never seen anything like Ennis. As others have pointed out, he could have been mandatory for Bud, he went another route. He was offered the fight before Ava, he turned it down. Everytime Bud has a fight, Ennis starts calling Bud out. Now when he knows Bud is looking for a big money fight, as he is close to retirement, he is again verbally calling for it. It gives his small fanbase a way to say, see, Bud is ducking him! When Ennis had the chance to fight him and turned it down, called him out when had other fights and now is calling him out when he knows Bud is looking for the biggest fights moneywise.
Ennis is talented. But his fanbase is delusional. He ko'd a bunch of terrible fighters. He couldn't stop Karen, who is not an A level fighter. Villa took his power for many rounds and tagged him back. Had Bud been throwing those shots and landing cleanly, Ennis gets stopped. Ennis is physically talented and a good boxer, but the minute he stepped up from C level to B level guys, he stopped steam rolling. It is pretty obvious looking at Ennis's fight history and inactivity, he uses Bud's name to get attention, doesn't want to actually fight him, and he or his team, or both, are happy sitting back collecting OK money beating cans and looking good.
How can he not understand that to build himself into a big name and get big money fights and legacy fights, he has to make the big fights happen? Take a smaller cut, give in to demands, go prove that you are this bogey monster that you have been hyped as. Because the hype has worn off and now you are in your late 20's, haven't fought anyone and you have been using Bud's name for years while turning down the actual fight.
And nobody really believes that Ennis is so feared that no one will fight him. Ennis could be fighting better comp. If he went out and KO'd a few top guys he would build a real fanbase and be able to make some real money.
Strangest career trajectory for a "great" fight I have ever seen. Dude needs to fight alot more and talk ALOT less.

Five that exceeded my prior expectations in terms of fun match were Robeisy-Espinoza, Tszyu-Mendoza, Navarrette-Wilson, Wood-Warrington, and Inoue-Tapales (only because he showed way more heart and guts than I expected).crimsonfalcon07 likes this.

The guy couldn't even fight Kavaliauskas or Avanesyan. He had no problem fighting Dulorme, who had five loses, in his 29th fight. Kava had 2 which came from Crawford and Ortiz.
Traditionally, prospects or rising boxers normally add outgoing veterans in their resume like Thurman fighting Guerrero, for example, or Josesito Lopez. Or they wait out when established guys had softened up. This guy couldn't even fight a softened up Kava or Avanesyan. He's still scared. He had no problem fighting the likes of Lipinets, who was a career 140, Clayton and all the bums in his record. Crawford who started at 135 had Kavaliauskas as his 4th fight at welter.
This Ennis team is a scam.

I don't see anyone Boots could beat, that would make the public understand just how great a talent he is? If he was to beat any of the Champoions at 140, who move up, they'll just say they were too small! I think he should move to 154 ASAP, and chase fights with Ramos, Zayas, Ortiz Jr., Spence, and Tszyu!
If he really wanted to fight Bud, as the IBF champion, he can move up and request to be the mandatory to the winner of the vacant 154lb title fight.
Bud would definitely fight him then, but we all know Boots doesn't really want it. He's just clout-chasing.crimsonfalcon07 likes this.

If Boots used his championship status to request an immediate fight with the winner of the 154lb vacant IBF title, that would put him one fight away from Bud who is trying to unify.
Let's see if he does it. He probably won't though.
