Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia Would Not Be Surprised if Joshua Beat Usyk in Trilogy Fight
Robert Garcia, former trainer of heavyweight Anthony Joshua, believes the British star is fully capable of shocking WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA world champion Oleksandr Usyk in a trilogy fight.

I do believe that AJ will best Usyk in a trilogy, hopefully it happens this year. I also agree with Garcia that AJ needs to be active, 3 fights per yaer is the bar minimum. AJ is only getting better and better and he's very dedicated to the sport and determined to be the very best of his generation. He has the attributes and with Ben Davidson in his corner he's started to use them properly.
Even if he did it won't mean anything but Usyk got old and was worn out.
Usyk has already beaten him on Road, twice with everything against him. There shouldn't be any talking about a trilogy.
What if Usyk beat him again? We going to entertain talks of a fourth fight another year or two down the line hoping Father Time has finally taken his tole enough for AJ to finally be able to get a victory?

How many times did Pacquiao beat marque before marquez ko'd him?
If AJ beats Ngannou, wins the IBF then he's earned a 3rd crack at Usyk, and if a confident AJ on a great run of form beats Usyk in a 3rd fight then it'll be a good win, it won't erase Usyk's 2 good wins.
Usyk got AJ when he was still recovering his confidence from the Ruiz beating. (which was far more dominant than either Usyk win tbh) but that's just how boxing goes, good timing.
Boxing is about form, tactics, momentum, and performance on the night, even if you beat a guy once or twice it doesn't mean you would always beat him every time, even at your best, it just means you beat him ON THAT Night. I belive Usyk beats AJ 60-70% of the time, the other 20-30% of the time AJ would win.

doubt he gets or deserves a third chance but he did pretty good in the second fight, seems to have been revised into some 12 round schooling but it was a very close fight until usyk bossed a couple of the late rounds (as a champion should).... if usyk goes and puts a whooping on fury then joshuas career looks a lot different to where it did a year or so ago

Joshua was still in with a chance to win up until the 9th round in BOTH fights.
Neither were schoolings Usyk just pulled away at the end in both so optically you were left with usyk dominating down the stretch.
Any fights where one guy dominates the late rounds, public perception is always skewed heavily in that guys favour because people forget all the early rounds.
There was like 40% Usyk clear rounds 20% Usyk close rounds and 10% AJ clear rounds and 30% AJ close rounds. There were multiple rounds where if AJ landed 3 or 4 more jabs they would have swung in his favour.
In the second fight if AJ had won the last round it would have been a draw, which I wouldn't have agreed with but it would have been an extremely close fight on an unbiased scorecard.
Now of course AJ DIDN'T do that and so he was the rightful loser both times, all I'm saying is the narrative of domination is in accurate, Usyk himself said both fights were hard fights. Given AJ has more upside than Usyk, and that AJ improved in the 2nd fight more than Usyk did, a 3rd fight potentially could be very interesting.
These will be unpopular facts but they remain.

It's highly possible as usyk is the smaller man and will likely have a shorter lifespan of ability because he relies on speed and reflex more so than joshua who will have power to fall back on a true factor in any heavyweights longevity
I doubt that extra weight is doing his body any favours in the long run.
I beleive usyk is on borrowed time more so than joshua

lol at this, the first fight was a total schooling, and in the rematch, after a very good round nine from joshua, usyk came back at him in the tenth a beat the living shlt out of him. wtf are you talking about, neither fight was close, like at all.

LOL. You try and downplay your biased AJ fandom but it’s still very obvious.
