Even small little guys in terms of being established like Isaac Cruz can be induced in playing waiting games. This guy is supposed to fight 2-3 times a year. He supports 2 families, his own and his dad's not to mention his training crew, then seldom fights waiting for some imaginary fight. IMO Cruz wasted the last 2 years of his life waiting for another Davis payday. If you want a rematch, you either bring something to the table like a title, accept the very short, maybe unfair, end of the stick, or beat the other top contenders and force Davis to fight you. Fighting old man Gamboa who was never a player at 135 doesn't raise your profile, fighting Eduardo Ramirez and Giovanni Cabrera doesn't move the needle either because no one knows who those two are. Team Cruz and his handlers played it too safe in waiting around.
