Jack Dempsey is actually the man who first expressed that idea. Tyson only repeated it.

Actually it was Joe Louis that said this after his second fight with Max Schmeling. I've never seen this quote attributed to Jack Dempsey.

Not sure why its credited to Tyson. This is just a derivation of an old Andre Ward quote - "Everybody's got a plan till they get punched in the nutz."

BTW, my belief if that it was Tyson who came up with the quote. The Joes Louis thing never appeared anywhere until some random journo misattributed it to Louis about 20 years after Tyson said it.

Lol Thanks. Louis was well before all of our times, and most people — especially the younger they are — only remember recent events. It’s a great quote, and Tyson managed to make it his own.
