I think Smith is "feeling" a bit too much and he is going to hit the floor within 5 rounds.

Not entirely sure if an aging Beterbiev punches harder than a prime Canelo. Haven’t seen Beterbiev break any orbital bones recently as Canelo did against Saunders. Stating Beterbiev punches harder at this point is a fairly shakey opinion.
The other thing being overlooked is quite how much punishment Beterbiev took against Yarde. Yes he won but he shipped a lot of punches and did visibly get wobbled a couple of time. Personally I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he ages overnight after that fight but we’ll see at the weekend I guess.
I think Smith is likely to do a lot better than most on here are expecting much the same as Yarde did.
Hard puncher my ass, maybe with 10k stipulations and drugged to the gills.SteelFist01 likes this.

But yes I'm gonna bet the Over 9.5 for the FOR SURE Win!!! You probably have Smith losing in the 1st round because your a FKN RT@RD!!!

Beterbiev is going to run him over. he dont have the heart to survive beterbiev. Beterbiev is "heavy handed", he has power in every punch, with both hands, at all distances. Its a break you down power not a one punch snapping power. there isnt just any one punch for smith to avoid, he will have to eat some of them and he dont have the heart for it. first few partially landed shots he will feel that he is with another planet of fighter and he isnt going to want to go there, he will try to survive but beterbiev is good at cutting the ring off and will knock his ass out.

2) When did Beterbiev take all this punishment? He was “visibly wobbled” one time, where he backed into the corner then flipped Yarde and unloaded on him. Even Yarde admitted after the fight that it was a trap he fell into.SteelFist01 likes this.

I don't get it:
Has Callum's power all of sudden magically and proportionately increased and travelled up as he has moved up to 175lbs? It doesn't work that way, otherwise everyone would just do SnC and move up a few divisions. Your power has a ceiling.
How much "bigger and stronger" is he now he doesn't have to cut another 7lbs in weight (ie, he isn't dehydrating himself for another few hours on a Thursday before the weigh-in)?
Didn't he have mega power in sparring when he WASN'T cutting weight? Or was he losing all his mythical power when he was cutting down to 168lbs and only regaining X amount as he rehydrated? That would still make him weaker than the sparring version of himself of a few weeks before the fight. Makes zero sense.
What difference can an extra 7lbs make when he is probably rehydrating to the SAME weight (on fight night) as he was when he was 168lbs? He was coming in at 185-190lbs as a SMW rehydrated and is around the same weight as a LHW now in the ring. His body has a maximum elasticity factor that needs to be considered which people are overlooking.
Furthermore, if he has such vaunted power, why not just skip 175lbs and move up to Cruiserweight instead?
He looks like he could fill it out nicely.
Of course he won't do that because his power won't increase proportionately like all his fanboys are making out to be.
The reality is that Smith is hoping and praying that Beterbiev gets OLD overnight and he can land his counter left hook and get a KO. Every single interview in the run upto the fight, Callum has talked about Beterbiev's age.
"Please God, let him be an old man and let me hit him before he hits me"
Personally, I see Beterbiev having too much ring IQ and will avoid that left hook and be able to reset Smith and probably time him coming in.
He's seen Smith's style many times as an amateur and it's nothing new. Smith is making himself out to be an oracle when we all know fighters revert to type when the pressure comes in.Last edited by CasperUK; 01-09-2024, 05:00 PM.
