    Eimantas Stanionis MIA

This guy has been royally screwed by boxing.

First off, he was supposed to get a consolidation bout with Ugas before the WBA permitted an exception to allow a Spence - Ugas unification. That was December 2021. He was promised the winner but that seems to have been quietly swept under the carpet by the WBA whilst further concessions were made to allow Spence to eventually unify with Crawford.

He's had one fight since, a defence of his secondary WBA title against Butaev on the Spence - Ugas undercard.

A fight with Virgil Oritz fell through earlier in 2023 with him being poorly treated by Golden Boy in the process.

A proposed showdown with Thurman in December also fell through once Showtime announced their exit from boxing.

He's been dropped from the Boxrec and TBRB rankings due to inactivity but remains ranked 4 by The Ring. With no fight scheduled, is he done?

Could this be one of Amazon Prime's first fights?

It's possible. Of course, I was just speculating about the Thurman/Stanionis getting rescheduled. Nothing is concrete in this sport. Ennis might as well take advantage of Stanionis' current availability.

Everyone from PBC is on the shelf until the prime deal begins.

Staniosis hasn’t really impressed though. It would be easier to get fights if he impresses against the decent names. For example, he went 12 with Dulorme but then months later Boots KO’s Dulorme in 1 round.

Staniosis will have to shift gears next time he gets a decent name. He has to impress in order to get the big fights. Not saying he sucks, just that he needs to step it up when he gets well known names.

Vergil Ortiz dragged him into it. The Stanionis/Ortiz being ordered by WBA was the result of Ortiz filing a petition.

Stanionis was actually going after his WBA mandaroy with Spence, which he filed a petitioned for. (Which also prompted Ennis to file for his IBF.)

Not to mention being with Schaefer as Stan's promoter at that time, he really didn't want to fight outside of PBC. Schaefer is allied with PBC/SHO.

I'd be surprised if its not. With PBC only getting 12-14 cards a yr I'd expect this to be a main event on a early free card or a comain on the first Tank PPV card or the Errol vs Bud 2 PPV card.

Schaefer has a history of double crossing Oscar so it made sense they'd rather fight on PBC platform.
