It is always like that for the Fury haters: Fury is crap, but if Usyk or Joshua beats him, it proves how great they are. If Fury fights someone, that someone is crap, but if Usyk or AJ fights him - he is not a crap.
Can I come up with the fact Wilder beat Helenius in less than one round, but AJ needed seven for that?
Boxing is about styles as well, you can hardly conclude only based on how X will beat Y because both beat Z, but X did it easier.
What matters is winning. And who you beat.
But I stand by my rating of Fury's second career (post Wlad fight retirement). His standing was all based on beating Wilder. That was a great win - but Wilder was never proven elite. I still think the more measurable win was him handling Whyte with such class. Whyte had a very proven level given he'd gone in with plenty of decent fighters. We knew Whyte's level.
You're right on styles. For example I believe that in this era:
Fury beats Wilder 9 times out of 10
Joshua beats Fury 7/10
Usyk beats Joshua 7/10
Joshua beats Wilder 7/10
Wilder/Usyk 50/50
Fury/Usyk 50/50
But there only way anything gets proven is if they fight. You can't use triangles, nor 'who did it best '.
So I actually give credit to Joshua and Wilder for making the fights that were clearly tough for them. And I'll give credit to Fury and Usyk if they actually get in the ring with each other.

Yes Wilder obviously thought he could beat a returning Fury. But give him some credit for actually stepping outside of the PBC fodder that was lined up for him.
We want good fights. That means someone has to take a chance and we should give them credit when they do, even if it backfires.

But usyk also didnt look the best in the run up to AJ either v chisora etc, most were calling him out of his depth i think, joshua was heavy fav with the bookies

I agree with the Ngannou stuff. Wilder sounds like a guy who has no issues with retirement, that's not the one Fury fought. Wallin got starched by AJ pretty easy but he's still just a high European level guy so idk if it means anything.

Fury lost to John Mcdermott, lost to Francis Ngannou, got dropped 5 times by Wilder, dropped by Pajvic and little Steven Cunningham. Went life and death with Otto Wallin, ran from the Klitscho rematch and is a drug cheat, what legacy are we talking about?
