Comments Thread For: Zhilei Zhang Believes He'll Put Anthony Joshua To Sleep

In terms of age, Zhilei Zhang is up there. The now 40-year-old knew that time wasn't on his side and following a highly controversial loss at the hands of Filip Hrgovic late last year, it appeared as though he would spend the rest of his time in boxing's purgatory.

He couldn't even put Jerry Forrest to sleep. Zhang is slow, old, and fat. He's just lucky Joyce is even slower and has never heard of head movement.

Wilder wants to do that first.
      Zhang should fight Andy Ruiz.

We were just talkin bout the guy....
find it weird there was no mention of his supposed recover from the surgery or a timetable of his return to the ring. Pretty weak article/interview.

        Zhang/Ruiz is a decent/fun fight.

Ruiz got a gift against a version of Luis Ortiz so old he could barely stand up. He's done as a top 10 level guy, he cashed out in the second Joshua fight and he doesn't care anymore. He got dropped by the ghost of Chris Arreola.

I agree with that. People overhype Zhang because he beat an overhyped one-dimensional and slow guy, but here is the weird part: Forrest isn't tougher than Joyce.

I can see Zhang bringing some hesitation in AJ because he has a tough head and punches well. He is also big and uses his size the best way he can for a man of average endurance and seems motivated (and talking too much recently).

Zhang is such a robot he makes Joshua look fluid, and Joshua has been criticized (correctly) as robotic since he was in his prime.

I just don't see it with Zhang. I think Joshua is very beatable but I just don't think Zhang, Joyce, DuBois, Anderson, Hrgovic, Sanchez, etc are any damn good. Torrez is the hope of the future as far as I'm concerned.

Well, I am not sure if Zhang surely beats AJ, but I see some chances of doing it. And I agree that the fighters you listed aren't something remarkable(I mean, they are good, but not top) or are yet to prove how much they really are. And then we have the heavyweight inactivity.

It's the heavyweights. Guys have a chance.

But the idea that Zhang is faster than Joshua because he beat Joyce who actually stops dead in slow motion replays is nonsense.

I suspect he'd look very slow against Joshua.

You've got to remember the respective levels these guys have fought at. It makes a huge difference.
