Thats how things work in entertainment. And boxing is more about entertainment & business than its about the sport at the highest levels. The Rock isn't the best actor, but cuz ppl like him they'll go watch him in anything he's in over more talented actors in better films.
Ward seems very bitter about his career among other things.

well his career didnt age very well did it? you cant stroll down memory lane watching andre ward fights can you? they are complete junk cheat fests. in the moment with heightened emotions, people couldnt see or refused to see his lack of boxing ability and that he had to resort to cheating tactics nonstop against every solid fighter he fought, the bums he didnt do this to of course. watch the alexander brand or paul smith fights. just normal stick and move type boxing. against anyone that challenged him from that guyin the olympics that battered him, edison miranda, bika, kessler, kovalev, 2nd half of froch, etc...it was just absurd what he was doing. bottom line: he could not compete. they let him do this to make money at the expense of fair competition. hes salty because he cant really boast about being some great boxer because you just put on his fights and say oh yeah you mean this shi-t?Last edited by daggum; 12-16-2023, 06:02 PM.Comment

Happens that now he realizes that it would have been better if he was a boxer instead of olympic runner.Comment

He was willing to fight Ward at 168 though. The whole 164 thing was because Ward wanted 50-50, despite Golovkin having to concede more at that time and the possibility of not coming back down and missing out on Canelo. He was in a different position in 2014, where Chavez was still a big enough name and the Canelo fight wasn’t on the radar yet. Ward in 2015-2016 wasn’t really drawing that big, so he wasn’t in a position to demand that because Golovkin at the time was undoubtedly the bigger draw. I don’t agree with the 164 bull**** because Ward in all likelihood couldn’t even make 168 anymore, hence the 172 catchweight against Smith, but I understand it.
That alone tells you all you need to know. And for the record, Chavez was shot by 2014 but yes, he was a “big enough” name at that time. What was a better fight for Golovkin, a shot Chavez or a Ward who may or may not have been able to make the weight?
And how wasn’t a Canelo fight on GGG’s radar when GGG said out of his own mouth that he’d face anybody from 154 to what, 175? 168? Canelo was fighting at 155 around 2014 and most knew it was only a matter of time before he moved up to 160. Either way, he was a middleweight by definition…anything over 154 is considered middleweight, right?Comment

That's all you got? The equivalent of "you're a stoopid poopy head".
Interesting how you claim GGG ducked Ward though its impossible since they were never in the same weightclass yet you ducked my question about when. You have no idea what's in these negotiations.Comment

So….Golovkin was more than willing to move up to 168 for Chavez but not Ward? Confused here…help me out. If it was just for a payday, then fine—but don’t say you’re willing to move to multiple weight classes for smoke then get quiet when a true threat answers the callout.
Fair enough?
As I said, in the beginning, when Golovkin said "Yes", Ward said "No".Comment

Thing is, if you’re willing to believe that Team Golovkin was willing to face Ward at 168, then you must believe that Ward willing to face him at the same weight, over 164 or whatever. Point is, he was willing to face GGG but things went silent and GGG moved on about his life. This is the same guy that stayed at Middleweight until what, last year? Late 2021?
