Ain’t no one reading all that. Ward took risks to be great.. Golovkin sat in the same weight class all of his career and look where that got him. Dude even vacated to duck an ancient Erislandy Lara. Turned down a PBC deal to fight Jermall. Throughout his career Gennady has constantly taken the easy route. Those Canelo paydays destroyed any legacy he was gunning for, got greedy and took his eyes off the prize. Even turned down an undisputed fight for Canelo. Jeez.

What risks? It was only one and he got a gift decision

Canelo and Andre Ward didn't overlap. Andre Ward fought at 175 and retired in 2017. Canelo fought at 175 in 2019.

And that's the point. Andre Ward campaigning for the fight meant fighting on for a few more years.

If Andre had fought on for 2-3 more years, the fight could have happened in 2020 at 175.

Andre Ward would’ve retired after the 1st Kovalev fight if he had his way, there was no way he was fighting on after 2017. He even said this.
