  • Comments Thread For: Devin Haney: I Should Be Fighter Of The Year; My Dad Deserves Trainer Of The Year

Devin Haney is convinced that his superb performance Saturday night should solidify his place as "Fighter of the Year." Haney has produced two career-changing victories in 2023 - a pair of 12-round, unanimous-decision defeats of highly regarded southpaws who've won multiple world titles. His 12-round domination of Regis Prograis on Saturday night at Chase Center was much more definitive than his debatable victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko on May 20 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

    Can’t really argue it.

Unified 135, actually defended the belts twice, vacated rather than get stripped for ducking a mandatory, and pitched a shutout on the WBC 140 champion.

I can think of three fighters that have a much better claim than Devin: Terrence Crawford, David Benavidez and Naoya Inoue

Naoya Inoue and Terence Crawford exist.

They won their biggest fight convincingly too unlike Haney against Loma.

Not taking anything away from his win/performance against Prograis though. Very impressive.

He didn't do all the this year, he got a questionable win over Loma and a win over a faded possibly never was Prograis.

Truthfully there is far more deserving fighters of "FOTY", unless you're bias for w/e reason.

Vast majority of people had him losing to Lomachenko and Prograis looked like ass in his last fight and even got dropped by a bum.

                    Stop the cap.
