  • What Boxers Went Up In And All Of A Sudden Started Getting KOs?

This is a question probably more geared toward the historians here, so it might be in the wrong section, but I'm trying to look in the past for fighters who couldn't get a KO for the life of them, but then suddenly started knocking guys out.

I think Devin has gone about four years without a KO. Are there any current or historical fighters that have gone years without a KO, then move up and start knocking guys out?

I've gone through as many boxers as I can think of, and I can't find a single one. The only guys who've done that were getting KO's at the lower weight class before moving up.

Edit: Check out what Bradley has to say about this fight

Crawford used to mix in a decision win now and then at 135. At 140 he knocked out almost everyone. At 147 nobody goes the distance with Bud.

What’s with your weird negative obsession with Haney? Everyone has their favorites/non favorites but your bu!!shyte is ridiculous.

Yeah. That's an example of someone carrying his power up in my opinion. Check out Terence Crawford's Boxrec

Once Crawford stepped up at lightweight, he was stopping guys. He stoped Sanabaria. That's a good stoppage. No one has every stopped Ricky Burns. I think he was the first to stop Gamboa. Klimov wasn't stopped until the very end of his career, when he was really old and somewhat inactive. At one 140, the guys he stopped were being stopped constantly, especially as time went on. Indongo has been stopped about six times. I'm not saying that to take anything away from Crawford, but at lightweight, he was fighting some tough dudes. But even beside that, he stopped most of the guys at lightweight that he fought.

When you compare that to Devin, the only guy he stopped that wasn't in Tijuan was Moreno or whatever his name was. He hasn't been able to stop anyone, really.

But maybe that's the best example we can find? Maybe Terrence Crawford and possibly Callum Smith?

Callum's power has definitely carried up. He's a big guy and is probably better suited to 175 anyway.

I haven't gone line by line through his fights, but in my head Canelo is as big if not a bigger puncher at 168 than he was at 160.

Miguel cotto....for whatever reason he was a ****er at 140, lost his power and chin from 47-54, and started back putting people in their ass at 60...

Floyd caught a rude awakening from a cotto who he thought was a chinny quitter..cotto is an example on how weight helps some of these guys

An interesting topic is fighters who didn't think they could beat their opponent but went onto win? Of course there are upsets, and underdogs win. Buster Douglas was underdog who beat tyson but Buster probably thought he'd best Tyson even if no-one thought he would. So that don't count.

Yeah. Canelo is definitely one. But I always thought of Canelo as being a heavy hitter throughout his career. He's been dropping guys as far back as I can remember.
