Successful? I can't believe the truth is seen as criticism. Al is scrambling right now. I'm not a critic of him or pbc.But I'm not a fanboi for any promoter or promotion as so many here seem to be. The fact is they are getting No upfront money. And only 12 to 14 dates. Pbc is less than it was and has taken a serious hit. Cheerleading won't change that.Comment

Can I ask how you know Al is scrambling? I am sure SHO leaving boxing is a difficult adjustment.
No, they didn’t get a massive deal like they got with SHO. I think that reflects boxing’s decline in the sports landscape.

Hold on. You talked about NBC and Fox. Now you’re pivoting to their shows on other networks.
You didn’t name any fights specifically. Come on dude, support your argument with something concrete.
What evidence do you have the ww fights would have produced ratings?
Below, Ring in 2019 discussed the strong ratings boxing was getting on Fox. This was without the fights you allude to, pre pandemic.

Wait, if they do the same thing as they did with Fox in 2019, why would it be mediocre given the above?
They botched the way they handled their welterweight stable and had no big payoff until this year if you’re honest. And that was only because Crawford came over. How long did they have Andy Ruiz and Deontay Wilder on the same side of the street? That fight hasn’t been delivered to this day.
The one small glimmer of hope is that Showtime finally had a great year in 2023 in terms of putting on big fights…and of course it was also the year they got out of the sport. If PBC were to carry that 2023 model over to Amazon Prime then we have something to look forward to. But if this was just a one-off to try to attract a new home and they go right back to the way they’ve always done business? If we get Canelo vs Jermall next instead of against Benavidez? Then it will just be more of the same disappointment for fans.

PBC has had opportunities on NBC and Fox. They managed to drop the ball and disappoint by putting on random fights at random times.
It’s not throwing shade to point out the facts. Unless they do things differently the Amazon Prime deal is going to go the exact same way.Comment
