Robeisy Ramirez has long-term goals in place but short-term focus as it relates to the important part of his career. The double-Olympic Gold medalist and reigning WBO featherweight titlist is often mentioned as a potential future target of former division champ Naoya Inoue. Both boxers are with Top Rank and fought on the same July 25 show in Tokyo. Ramirez didn't really pay much attention to any fight that night other than his own.

Robeisy vs Inoue would be very,very interesting. Robeisy is wise to focus on the task at hand though. Overlooking opponents has wrecked many a fighters dreams. Robeisy has a tree to chop down ,and belts to unify before he can start thinking about Inoue.

Inoue's too small for 126 so I don't see the fight with Robeisy happening.

Better for Ramirez to focus on featherweight atm and then move up to 130 later.

Both got risky business to take care of first. And if Robeisy really wants it, he needs to unify and cement himself as #1 at 126. Inoue's planning to defend at 122 against the rest of the top guys anyways.

Boggles the mind that people want to criticize Inoue. He's exactly the kind of fighter NSB wishes their favorite fighters were. The only big fights he's missed were because the other guy ducked him, not the other way around, and he's using his cash cow status to get the actual top guys, rather than cherry picking weaker opponents. Even Mayweather, who's fought more world champs than anyone in the modern era, maybe ever, only fought one champ in his first 22 fights. Inoue fought 9 in his first 22. He's only ever fought one guy with a losing record (9-10) and retired him in his second fight. And that guy was the Thai national champion at the time. Just crazy.

Love Inoue. I think Ramirez may well be the guy to stop him. Inoue does everything basic to perfection and is tough as hell. Ramirez has special talent and power, and Inoue does get hit more than most elite fighters. Which is why he is fun to watch. Love to see that fight.

In a way Robeisy's first match loss might have been the biggest blessing in hindsight as no need for promoters to consider stretching out and padding records but just go for good fights that real boxing fans would appreciate.

Inoue undisputed victory lap/mandatory defense against Nery in spring, then maybe MJ for defense in Japan as well. In the mean time Robeisy unification vs Venado, Figueroa officially becoming champion and WBA champ gets determined.

On an unrelated note, Junto Nakatani seems to be on the verge of going up to 118 and fighting Santiago for the belt which will make bantam really interesting yet again.
