You are correct he does not fight like that every fight. He only fights like that when he feels his opponents power. Let’s be honest, normally his opponents are hand picked, so they look for a certain style fighter for him to look good against. Guys that are slower, come forward types. Since that opponent was mandated he couldn’t pick his opponent if they could have it most certainly wouldn’t have been De Los SantosHe beats both of them. Every young fighter has a bad performance. Don't give me "he does this every fight!" because his other fights have been landslides regardless if you don't like this style. In fact, it would have been in their favor if he had this performance vs them vs going to the drawing board now and matching his work rate to his talent.Comment

If he was scared to engage against Edwin, imagine a Tank fight, an extremely good and agile boxer with knock out power, difference is tank is not flat footed and is a big enough star to get the nod if shakur pulls a stincker like his last fight. He beats both of them. Y'all realize Tank throws less than both Haney and Shakur, right? He might be the most patient fighter in boxing lol. He does a lot of feinting and trap setting and waits for you to make a mistake. I think the fact that he is a power puncher that eventually gets most of his opponents out of there skews the fact he is highly inactive.Shakur and Haney would make for a good chess match. It would be highly competitive like Devin's fight with Loma.
However, if you match Stevenson with Tank Davis then the fight becomes another track meet. The reason being is Shakur's unwillingness to trade and exchange or engage and take risks in that fight.
If he does he knows he would get KTFO.Comment

Nope. Watch the Nakathila fight and watch his last fight. He fought completely different but people just run with narratives. He barely threw the left hand in his last fight despite clear openings for it. He would disengage too far out of range to initiate any offense. Versus Nakathila, he stayed in range to counter and let his left hand go.

Also, Edwin didn't do himself any favors. He would just explode for offense, but did not apply constant front foot pressure until the last 2 rounds or so and that is when Shakur landed his best shots. Not sure if Edwin is not comfortable initiating constant front foot pressure but when he was not exploding in short bursts, he was disengaging as much as Shakur.
A terrible fight all around. There styles just don't mesh well.Comment
