I'm a fan of both guys but Roy would win a decision an have joe in trouble a handful of times

he always seem confident ...maybe he never fought someone with the same mental toughness as joe.......joe to me was never a hard puncher....to make someone like rjj or bhop think twice about being yourself takes mental skills.....who knows who wins in their prime.....Where was Roys "mental" weaknesses in his PRIME.... PRIME... 168lbs... 1997... 28-29 years old, PRIME Roy Jones... matter of fact, Joe HIMSELF talked about how CONFIDENT Roy was.
It took til he was 35, dropped 2 weight classes and got knocked out for him to have a mental weakness... and who wouldnt after that.
Hardly the PRIME and YOUNG Roy Joe would be fighting in this hypothetical matchup.Comment

This is one of those threads where someone who is bitter about what actually happened wants to use their imagination to change the outcome to what they would LIKE to have happened.Comment

What do you mean by this? he made Roy and Bernard think twice NOW? in 2008ish?
And that somehow relates to 12 years ago?Comment

Yup, you spoke the truth. Hbo's biography on Calzaghe also states that Calzaghe several times wanted to fight Roy but Roy priced himself out...
I guess Hbo are a bunch of liars?Comment

roy never priced himself out cause their were never any negotiations jeez. calzaghe's own promoter confirmed the fact that while calzaghe publicly called for big fights he privately forced warren to set him up with bums cause he was insecure about losing.Comment

you would expect that guys with rjj and bhop's skills would dominate or atleast outhustle a guy who is feather fisted like joe......as light puncher as joe was or is, they were still too cautios to throw punches....thats why joe won by points......joes mental game played a role there imo.....thats is why even 12 years ago, i still could see joe winning....Comment
