I don't care what anyone says. No way Morrell should catapult straight to a championship fight after 9 bouts. Let him pay his dues like everyone else. If he keeps his mouth shut and his eyes open, he might just learn something.
He's WBA mandatory. What would you like him to do to "earn it"

I agree for the most part, but he and his team put themselves in a position as wba interim smw belt holder. So eventually the wba will call that. Might be a while cause the wba is just as wack as the wbc.
Fight was offered to Morrell last year after talking so much trash on Benavidez. Then he responded to the offer by saying his trainer don't want to rush him and he needed more practice fights. He took 2 practice fights, instead of one.
In boxing, you don't ignore opportunities like that as if things will always be the same. It changes in just a matter of weeks or months, like current champions getting beat, titles with new owners, not to mention injuries, personal issues outside of the ring, etc. Then there's the complexities of the boxing business itself, and now with Showtime exiting boxing.
A least be accurate. His trainer Shields went on record that he, himself needed more time with his pupil before jumping to the deep water, Shields wanted to spend more time with Morell jr before accepting a fight of that magnitude. Fast forward two fights later and he okays the benavidez fight. The fight was offered to benavidez and they choose andrade instead. Why are you blaming Morell jr? Do you think because he steamed rolled over a 36 yo former 154/160 champion that never won any of those belts from a Champ, they were vacant, he is afraid of benavidez? I really hope they fight, you see unlike floyd or ginger, and some others boxers that are following on the steps of those two, Morell jr and benavidez are not afraid to face the best. Who wins? I don't know, I hope we find out sooner rather than later.

Why not? Didn't lomachenko fought for a belt in his second fight, how about Rigondeaux? He did it in his fifth or sixth fight, spinks fought for and won the heavyweight belt against Ali just to mention a few.

Indeed. People are ****** about this. Talented amateurs can and do get fast tracked. Do people really think adding more scrubs to his record like Benavidez and Andrade magically makes him more worthy?
I am not surprised people are avoiding him especially after the last couple fights. None of the top guys will want to risk their own title shots against a guy who can put his opponents into comas.

This is nothing new, Pete Rademacher debut by fighting for the HW crown against Floyd Paterson, they're a few Thai fighters that had fought for championships with only a couple of fights. I don't understand when fans are guarding their idols more than the fighters guard themselves. I'm a Morrell Jr fan, I know going after benavidez is dangerous and I hope the Cuban wins, but I wouldn't be against a good fight just because I don't want him to lose. If you check benavidez opponents from the twelfth fight up, the opposition is similar to that of Morell jr, with the exception being plant and andrade, which by the way none of them won the title from a Champ. So which real Champ anyone of them has faced?

Garfios made some great points about this. I’ll add that, with the rate of fights being made these days, it’s become increasingly unrealistic to expect a top talent to “pay his dues” anymore.

The irony is that this is more of an American thing, and it's funny when you consider that the first 10-20 fights are against club guys for "pro experience"
In Japan, if you're not ready to fight for a world title by your 10th fight, guys will look at you as domestic level. If you're not ready by 10, you never will. Obviously theres exceptions to every rule. Inoue was 2 division champ in his 9th fight. I think Tanaka was 3 division champ by his 11th fight.

Who says you need a 20 fights mostly against no hopers to fight for a belt?the guy fought a 22-0 guy in his second or third fight, then a 12-0 in his fifth bout and a 16-0 in his eigth fight, hasn't face a guy with a losing record from his second fight on, you only see this type of resume in guys that fought for belts very early in their career's. Almost every post I read about Morrell Jr that are mentioning his 9 fights, and that he shouldn’t jump on the front of the line, are either benavidez or canelo's fans, why they're against this fight I can only guess, they can see the kid is very dangerous and him beating one of them would be very humiliate, not for the fighter but for them.
