Roy never carried his power up to lhw

Look at the elite guys he fought at that weight and even the most loyal RJJ fan would agree the number of KO's drastically dropped at lhw especially against the elite. He hit harder at mw without a doubt. That's why Hop won't get stopped and Roy could only hurt Joe with an elbow shot. Not a hate thread just pointing out some things about myth about Roy.

Hokins and Roy > Calzaghe. Onlyu the British disagree. Many of them rate Lewis as second to Ali.

Yeah, now even though he still hits hard it's not one punch KO power but in his prime it was devastating.

Look at his KO'd of Griffin and Virgil Hill.

Yeah he did KO those two and then couldn't pull off the one-punch KO again for years. It wasn't for lack of trying.

I agree with the threadstarter, Jones went from a homerun hitter to a doubles/triples guy at 175.

I'm not british and Lewis was definitely not second to Ali maybe top 10 i.e. 10th place or lower. All I'm saying is Roy never did to the lhws what he did to the mws. That will be the difference against Hop. Roy can't hurt an elite fighter at lhw. He only hurt Joe with an elbow shot not a legal punch.

Elbow shot? It was a wrist/forearm, and a flush punch does more damage. If anything Calzaghe could not take big power shots at 175, since Hopkins and Jones do not hit that hard, and they both dropped him.

He never had 1 punch KO power at the lower weights either.

He has very good power though and many times didn't even force the stoppage.

The KO of Griffin was very impressive and tells you his power was for real.

There is a bit of a difference: He was fighting bigger framed guys. Just because you move up and call yourself a LH doesn’t' necessarily mean you can now take Jones punch now that your a "LH" from say a MW or SMW.

Hopkins dropped him with a punch, and Hopkins even dropped the solid chinned Tarver something Roy never came close to doing. Roy hit Calzaghe with an elbow and the ref started counting

I don't know, he absolutely flattened some guys at 160. Thomas Tate comes to mind. Jorge Vaca, Percy Harris...etc. Even at 168 - his KO over Malinga was impressive as well. At 175 though the difference was apparent.
