This is really what he should have been doing all along if he's actually the Boogeyman of the division, and it's a golden opportunity with Canelo taking easier fights. If Benavidez can defeat the best guys and big names in the division while Canelo takes easier cash fights, he starts to look like the uncrowned King of 168, and the hype if he finally does fight Canelo would sell way better. He's got to be a star in his own right.
Its already what he is doing and its already what has happened. He offered 50/50 to Mungia already and they ducked him. Oscar is smart he will cash out mungia vs Canelo instead. A Benavidez beating won't be worth it.

Benavidez can take the fight, it certainly will giving him eyeballs.
Yeah, I got you. That's why I said "though". If that's one of the fights on Canelo's PBC deal, fans will rightly be pretty disgusted. But if Benavidez takes out the biggest names for Canelo, a fight between them would really be a super fight, and that would be a neat event. Now that he seems to be getting serious about his career, I'm all for him getting some good fights. The more big names boxing has to generate hype, the better for the sport.

“Reclaim the Crown he lost that Canelo now owns?”

And how did that happen? Jog my memory.

It’s a problem Because Benavidez is available and the best and top ranked opponent. That’s pretty obvious.
I am a huge Canelo fan and have no problem calling it a duck.
Fighting Munguia is a joke. A rematch with Plant is a thousand times better than fighting a glorified protected boxer.
You guys are cracking me up. I agree with you!! Don’t you just get to a point as a fan of boxing (or a fan of Canelo if you are, which I’m not)…. This type of thing is just normal. I know It’s a comment thread and we’re here to throw out whatever we want, but plain and simple, I’m not surprised One bit. And no one else should be either. No matter if I sucks or not. It’s Canelo. It’s who he is now.
