Persoon and Serrano would’ve potentially finished Taylor had they been 3 min rounds.

The 2 minute rounds feel short when watching.
However I don't think three minute rounds in women's boxing would mean more knockouts because the lack of knockouts is basically down to them not having much power and lacking any real ability and technique to knock somebody out.
There is a few women boxes with high knockout percentages like Savannah Marshall, so obviously the two minute rounds haven't affected her being able to knock people out, so it's clearly just the lack of ability in the majority of women fighters, not the minutes. Katie Taylor couldn't crack an egg if you gave her 10 minute rounds.
3 minute round would probably mostly lead to more fatigue and very scrappy fights. The majority of women boxers are just lesbians that did some boxercise classes and got encouragement to give it a go for real. Watching then box 3 minute rounds with no capability to knock someone out and poor skill on show would be poor viewing.Comment

women's boxing is basically pitty patting each round then go to the decision, there is rarely any danger in majority of matches. Extending to 3min rounds will bring more excitement because a fighter has 1 more minute to work on a hurt/exhausted fighter , raising the KO% or a ref stoppage.Last edited by baroidi; 11-20-2023, 02:16 PM.Comment

I think the issue is that most women don't have the power to knock the other out. So most fights are going to go the distance. Whether 2 or 3 minutes. So 3 minutes round fights will almost always go the distance, and time is money. Also only very few women fighters are skilled enough to make a 3 minute round fight entertaining. 2 minute round fights make them fight harder, and faster, therefore more entertaining. I have to admit that only a very few women fighters hold my attention throughout the fight, like Katie, and Amanda. Shields is good, but she is not entertaining even with two minute rounds much less three. I think as women boxing continues to advance, there will be a change in the time limit. I just don't think it is there yet.Comment
