Why did Nate sign the contract with Don King back in 2007? Don King's way of conducting business has been known for decades, Nate is the idiot here.

True that. A lot of people talk smack about how a fighter is ****** or dumb for signing with this promoter, this and that. If you've been following boxing for a long time, you would know that most fighters and their managers have their hands tied and are usually forced into bad contracts because there aren't too many choices available for them. Promoters run the world of boxing and as bad as DK was, he was one of those who run things. Sometimes a fighter has no choice but to sign with a certain promoter, in the case of Nate, it was to get the Diaz fight. And guess what, he got the Diaz fight.

The only positive about this is that DK is on his way down and hopefully young fighters will shy away from signing with him.

Go sign with the UFC and you'll find out how bad it really is. The highest paid fighter in UFC gets $ 440 K and Dana White gets the rest of the ppv and ticket sales, which according to him, easily compares or beats boxing nowadays. $ 440K for the top fighter! That's effed up!

You won't be fighting until July/Aug. At the earliest. And , at your age, and with all the talent at 140, that is unacceptable.

If you guided his decision in the DKP signing you ****ed him and made a terrible decision. Diaz fight or no Diaz fight it was ******. Campbell's name was on the rise w/o Don King. Sure you wouldn't have gotten the Diaz fight but fighting a couple of real fighters with real names for ESPN or ShoBox type money would have made Campbell in demand by the boxing public assuming he won. At that point Arum, GBP, HBO, Shaw, DiBella, etc... would have had no choice but give Campbell a shot against their guy. You lacked the patience to make a sound business decsion and in turned ****ed Nate into signing a deal with the devil.

Diaz was a multiple champ at the time. He was undefeated and many felt Nate would get blown away. He is a proud man and had something to prove along with the belts. 135 had David Diaz and Julio Diaz. Casamayor was getting old and Katsidis wasn't big. The names weren't really there at that time.

Has Don King ever been seen as a helpful promoter? Im not too familiar with his work with Tyson etc but I know it went bad...could someone give me a quick rundown of King's promotional work?

Not good, he couldn't even give ONE last good fight for Trinidad, he couldnt seal that.

Nate was forced to sign with Don King if he wanted to get any fights.

This is the same reason why Pacquiao pays Arum 27% of his purse. He enjoys getting royally screwed by Arum, because he knows if it wasn't for Arum he would not be getting weight drained opponents or C level "vacant belt" championship fights on PPV.
