You know what he is trying to do. He is trying to (and succeeding) in taking market share from boxing. He is putting price pressure on boxing.

IMHO UFC conceded on the PPV already vs Fire Power and put up their card on free TV isntead...

but with this move, I am sure they will have a lot of hits or high viewer percentage...

But it is such a ******ed move.... Imagine if FirePower was free on TV... it would go above and beyond 10-20 million views. If Dana White is trying to compare popularity between a free event and a pay per view event and then claim that the UFC is more popular than PPV Boxing based on ratings than hes just plain ******ed....

No, sir. That is not what he is doing. He is using a longstanding TV technique called 'alternate programming". Unless it's the Super Bowl, there are always people who want to watch something else. And DW is trying to provide that. Especially when one costs, and one is free.

If you choose UFC, you still get to watch "fights", and three hours later, you get the boxing results and not feel like you missed anything.

Pacquiao vs Cotto will smoke UFC 105, just like Mayweather-Marquez smoked UFC 103.

The PPV Floyd/JMM was up against was not a big one. It has the UFC name, but compare it to the prior ones and it makes sense to me why it wasn't a huge success.

So basically he set it up to dissuade the casual fan from purchasing a PPV event and instead settle for something less. It might work, but I'd just watch both events and get double the fights. I'll basically just pay for the PPV Boxing main event and until it starts I'd watch UFC. For me it's not really much of an opportunity cost since I can easily choose both.
