Canelo's next fight will absolutely be against the winner of Benavidez/Andrade. If it's not, then fans can legitimately say that Canelo is ducking. Up until now the ducking narrative has been nothing but fabricated bull****.
So canelo fought ryder because the British was a better opponent than benavidez? Even though benavidez has been the mandatory for two years.

It’s easy to say what Canelo would’ve done if Benavidez didn’t get stripped but the truth is, Canelo never expressed any interest in facing Benavidez while he was champion. However, 2 days after Benavidez got stripped, canelo petitioned the wbc for the belt. That’s when he suddenly became interested. So you can pretend like Canelo would’ve fought him but that isn’t a lock and I doubt he would’ve. As far as discipline, yeah Benavidez should’ve made weight. But let’s not be hypocritical because Canelo has missed a contracted weight before as well. The difference was he used his leverage to change the contracted weight a day before the fight. Let’s also not forget he took a banned substance that helps with cutting weight. So he’s in no position to throw stones.

Shields stopped the fight before, because he didn't have enough time with the kid, two fights later he gave tha okay, for you is an advance age 25yo, but you forgot that he was an standout amateur with 130-2 record and a junior World Champion and won the best boxer in a couple of tournaments. Beside, he is the #1 and WBA belt holder, just like benavidez. I think benavidez people are more worried of what Morrell Jr can do to their charge, than Morrell Jr people.
First, I need to see what Benevidez does with Booboo. Benny looked decayed vs Plant. That was a moral booster for Morrell. If Benny hunts and pecks Booboo, then Morrell has more than enough incentive. I totally agree, I am scheptical of Ronnie's influences should Benny or Demetrius look unbeatable.

Morrell has been the mandatory for two years. Since June 2021. Benavidez earned his interim title May 2022. Canelo last satisfied the WBC mandatory Feb 2021, and the WBA hasn't been satisfied since Dec 2020.

Morrell has a better claim to the Canelo fight from the mandatory perspective than Benavidez. Not sure it will matter though, since it's Canelo.

The eliminator was against Plant (after Canelo had already taken him out), although Benavidez tries to mislead people into believing fighting washed Lemieux made him mandatory. Benavidez should've been fighting the top fighters all this time instead of waiting for the cash out.

Don't get it twisted, Canelo's the one who did the heavy lifting in the division. Prior to entering the picture, the top fighters remained in their separate corners and Benavidez was the main culprit by juggling his 1 belt around and never fighting his years backed up mandatory Callum Smith or Yildirim and rejecting a Plant unification.

From the start of 2020, Canelo had stated his intention to challenge for the 168 belts. Smith and Saunders were the obvious likely frontrunners because they were all under the Matchroom/DAZN umbrella. He had actually come to an agreement with Saunders for May 2020 but it ended up getting scrapped due to covid then Canelo got caught up in litigation with DAZN. And yet throughout 2020 until he was stripped in August, team Benavidez under his manager Sampson made it clear he'd refuse to unify on his PBC end of the street with Plant (even though it would put him in a frontrunner situation in the division)---and then proceeded to give up his only chip not bothering to make weight, then rejected another title shot at 175.

Canelo eventually settled his DAZN litigation in November 2020 and sent out offers to the only 3 champs at the time, and Smith ended up accepting. Meanwhile, Haymon wasn't even interested in sending fighters to DAZN and twice rejected big paydays for Plant, just to have him fight on basic cable for peanuts instead. Canelo had to become a free agent and go directly to PBC's doorstep in late 2021 to secure undisputed. Meanwhile, the only reason we're talking about the potential clash with Benavidez is Canelo going to PBC's doorstep again. And Canelo never ruled out fighting him, his main criticism was guys acting entitled to a payday while refusing to put in the same work on their end.

He might as well start negotiations with the Morrell camp , Canelo is never going to fight David Benavidez. There will always be an excuse not to. Canelo doesn't want that fight.

That Lemieux fight was May 21, 2022 also. Meanwhile Morrell has been WBA regular since Jan 2020, and defended it 5 times in the interim.
