You can't go by punch stats. And even if you wanted to, Cotto's jab is more like a power punch, and Mosely's jab is more like a flickering measuring stick for his right hand.

Total punches landed doesn't tell you that.

What does that have to do with the fact that Shane landed more power punches and was never hurt in the fight like Cotto was? Oh, and the body punches don't get accounted for either. I guess this is olympic boxing. Cotto's ass went on the run because Shane was getting to his body. Not only did Cotto get beat. He got beat at his own game and a blue print was laid out on how to deal with Cotto. Margarito followed this accordingly loaded gloves or not.

I recently sat down and tried to score the fight. Half way through the 5 or 6th I realized that scoring this fight is ****in hard so I gave up and watched the fight in full enjoyment.

Both guys could have won.


When I first saw it in 07 I thought Cotto won. Last time I watched in a few weeks ago I gave it to Mosley.

There were parts in the middle of the fight were Shane just looked absolutely defeated, but he got back into the fight, and pulled it out I think.

its simple cotto was the young up and comer and more money could be made of him than mosely. shanes only chance was a KO. just like when bhop fought taylor. people like to say cotto outboxed shane b/c he landed more jabs. that was the first i seen where the jabber won. most judges gave more credit to the power punching. but with that being said i had it a draw but i can see why they gave it to cotto b/c you have to out right beat the champ.

Everyone tends to give Shane the 12th just because. When at worst it should be a 10-10 round. Neither guy did much. Cotto the only one landing anything of significance.

If you score the 9th or 11th for Mosley then I guess we just see things differently. Cotto clearly outscored him whether he was moving backwards or not. Same thing with the Clottey fight.

I was mad about Cotto's dancing late in that fight, but it turned out to be a smart move.

I thought it was a draw tbh, Cotto got most of the early rounds, Mosley most of the later.

I don't dispute the decision.

Just makes me wanna see them do it agin.
