I don’t think anyone associated with the Fury camp is at all pleased with the outcome of that fight

    Fury was thoroughly embarrassed
Yeh, Francis is a winner in a sense he came out of this fight looking good. It was always going to be uphill battle for fury if he didn't win easy and spectacular. But I knew it wasn't going to be easy

In terms of genuine cherry picks you've got Buster Douglas for Mike Tyson. And Michael Bentt for Tommy Morrison. Both were easy tune ups with big paydays signed up.

I don't think either compare to choosing to fight a 37 year old debutant though. And getting thoroughly embarrassed.
      But crucially, not losing.

Not really a good example given how Mayweather dropped rounds, and had McGregor gassing to thank for the KO.

The story has it that Mayweather bet a lot of money on the round he would stop McGregor, that’s why he carried him and came out to finish him when he did

Fury wasn’t trying to carry Francis, like he more then likely thought he could, he was trying not to get knocked out

So yes it is the exact same idea behind this fight, Fury thought is was going to be easy money just like Mayweather vs McGregor

And that is also why Fury was touting himself as a genius, for making the easy money fight possible

Hahahaha, yeah Fury looked really smart getting dropped and losing to a debutant mma fighter

Fury: I will go toe to toe

He was holding more then punching and even a picture perfect elbow couldn’t turn the tide

Fury: I am the biggest puncher in the heavyweight division

Hahahaha, Francis was eating those power puff punches like organic pop corn, and left the fight without a mark on his face while Fury went to the emergency room

Humble pie never tasted so good,

You can tell from the first 2 seconds that Fury thought it would be easy.

In fact he thought he would knock Ngannou out within 2 seconds...

Then he missed... got countered the next time he tried, went down - and his whole mentality changed.

Joyce had to fought him twice and got bashed twice. 2nd time in a KO of the year that will live forever in highlight reeels
Top contenders when there's nothing else available is far from a cherry pick

A cherry pick is an irrelevant fight against a mismatched opponant

I understand your sentiment, but boxing is the theater of the unexpected, and that’s why most people watch

I haven’t posted a thread in years, but this is an aftermath of a big fight very similar to the last Pac Márquez fight that ended in a knockout

So unexpected and shocking that something has to be said

The only thing bad for the sport of boxing, is people not being interested

And one last thing, people forget that Fury himself downplayed boxing by saying WWE wrestling was harder than boxing, like he was above the sport that made him rich and famous

I myself am ecstatic that he was embarrassed, he has only himself to blame
