The only thing stopping Mayweather from showing his power, is his fear of hurting his hands more seriously than he has already. That was the real reason behind his "retirement". Sure, brawls are more exciting to the casual observer, but a technical deconstruction of an opponent is far more exciting for me. Anyone can throw wild shots and end up catching someone and knocking them out...but it takes real skill to avoid your opponents punches while landing when ever you feel like it.

Who is he avoiding? He is in position to fight the Cotto-Pacquiao winner. Don't say Mosley who he called out twice before with no response.

Please go back and look. You made me question myself (kudos!) and I had to go check. But I stand by my position that Roy is a natural SMW/LHW.

After the first 2-3 years on his career, Roy was not trying to see the MW limit. Roy turned pro in 89. He fought MW for a solid 2-3 years. Then he fought both MW/SMW.

From 1994 onward, Roy never fought another MW fight. He was a SMW/LHW for the long stretch of his very best years . And, like Floyd, that was the bulk of his career.

Floyd turned pro in 1996. He had his first WW fight in late 2005. And that was really two JWW's fighting at WW (floyd vs Sharmba) agreed?

So, how is a guy who moves to a weight class TEN YEARS into his career 'natural" at that weight class? For TEN years, did you ever hear Floyd not making weight, etc?

Isn't it odd how only when he comes off the long layoff that he has the weight issues? Which isn't uncommon as fighters age.

What does that have to do with weight? We are talking about weight.

Good points. I think the other point is that at 32, Floyd is a full-fledged welter. Whether he was a lightweight five years ago or not.

Do you want me to make a list of people he avoided in the passed?

It wasn't a weight issue...It was a choice not to dehydrate himself too much. The fight with Marquez was contracted at 147. It just so happened to have a stipulation that should either fighter weigh above 144, they would have to pay 300k per pound.

I didn't bold that for you Al...just for the people who don't seem to understand what was in the contract that JMM signed and keep accusing Floyd of "cheating".

I agree he is a ww no doubt which is why many question why he doesn't fight true wws and not smaller guys from jww and lw moving up at a disadvantage. I figure it's because he doesn't have the power to hurt real ww which it's proven he doesn't.

what's stopping floyd is that he is scared to get hit. I mean I heard of hit and don't get hit... but floyd has to throw punches to hit.
