That doesn't make sense. People say Floyd needs to beat Cotto. Yet this Cotto is underdog against a former 106 fighter

    Because some parents raised morons.

As far as I recall, Bernard was underdog against Tito. Didn't really play out that way though did it?

        And??

This is about Cotto. If he is a TRUE elite WW, he shouldn't be underdog against a guy moving up. FACT

Does the threadstarter have a point? Pernell Whitaker was the underdog against a Julio Cesar Chavez moving up (to meet him at a catchweight). I guess Whitaker wasn't a real elite welter.

odds are set to get bets on the fight not a boxers true chances?

pacquiao is more known so the casinos need more bets on the less known fighter?

odds are set by ******** people are designed to get as much money on the fight as possible not really on how the fight will go?

you know. stuff that anyone who isn't ******ed would know.

Hype and being the underdog doesn't equate to winning or losing.

Although Cotto is considered a "True" welterweight, the fact of the matter is, he is what many ringside analysts consider as "Damaged Goods". After his fight with Margarito, he took a beating...Not only physically (which some believe was compounded by the possible loading of Margo's gloves), but most importantly, he was damaged mentally. Before the Margo fight, he had the mentality that he was "The Man" in the WW division, especially after his win over Mosley...Then after the Margo fight, he won a vacant WW belt over Jennings, but then showed signs of a "War-tested" & "War-torn" fighter against Joshua Clottey. And many "Ringside Experts" had Clottey winning that fight and claiming that Cotto got the hometown "MSG decision"...

Simple fact is, is that many view Cotto as damaged goods after Margarito and that the fighter would never be the same after that war! A piece of Cotto was left in that ring, and that piece I believe was his belief that he was an "invincible WW"...
