Comments Thread For: Shawn Porter Shakes His Head At Jermell Charlo: "He Showed Us Who You Are, You're Not Gonna Step Up"

Shawn Porter knew it was somewhat of a long shot, but he wasn't exactly ruling out the upset. Considering what Jermell Charlo has done at 154 pounds, Porter gave him the benefit of the doubt. Yet, as the rounds got more and more lopsided, Porter realized that he was incredibly wrong.

We all know Charlo was up against it. He’s a fighter that jumped up two full weight classes without testing the water in either weight class at all, he was coming off an injury which had him sidelined for 16 months. Now if he wasn’t compromised like this in the first place, he never would’ve been picked by Canelo, so of course he took the fight under those circumstances. With that being said, it’s 100% on him for completely shyting the bed and not even trying. Even a 40 yr old semi retired ggg did significantly better than him.

Though limited in his abilities, Shawn never shortchanged us in any fight he was involved in so he is definitely qualified to give an opinion on this. Just think about that before you come for Porter. As for Jermell, "Lion Cubs only" will do.

His incendiary interviews often ended with Charlo screaming out, “Lions Only.” It was sort of a tip of the cap to the king of the jungle. Porter enjoyed Charlo’s disposition. Now, however, Porter doesn't want to hear Charlo utter the words, “Lions Only” ever again. When things got tough and the 33-year-old needed to bite down on his mouthpiece and find a way to win, he simply didn’t. Now, Porter is convinced that Charlo simply isn’t the ferocious fighter that he claims to be.

Accurate description of the Lions Only, except I'm not sure if he has changed into a kitten.

And in the process robbed hundreds of thousands of people out of their money, discredited his career and hurt the sport.

              What a win.

I wasn't dumb enough to buy it anyway as I knew it was money grab farce. But alot of people got ripped off, and Charlo selling the fight like he was going in to make history. SMDH.

None of what you stated is canelos problem. He a grown man signed up cashed that check and got dealt with proper.

who said it was Canelo’s problem? What it is though is boxing’s problem that Canelo would rather lessen risk than to fight a legit threat in his own division. If you condone it, that’s fine. But real fans see it as bullshyt.
